“diva” Blush

Sorry, dita!

GiantKitten · 14/06/2020 22:55

@AnneKipanki

Petunia doing well
That’s the blackest flower I’ve ever seen, Anne! Shock

So many beautiful flowers on this thread, & I have even more rose envy now!

ditavonteesed · 15/06/2020 07:07

I love the black flower, when I was a teenager my mum got all sorts of black flowers to make me come in the garden (dodgy goth). Wow thanks for the Id, I love it. I've put it in a pot as I didn't think it would be suitable for beds due to how exotic it looks.

The alstroemerias are great cut flowers. They last for ages ,

GiantKitten · 15/06/2020 12:22

They are fabulous, usually my first choice when available Smile

These are stumpy little things though, so have to be admired in situ!

I discovered from that link that they prefer morning sun, & these have been getting it until mid-afternoon, so I’m going to move the pot today!

Rosa Officinalis

So , this Rose is the apothecary 's rose. It is still in bud at the moment and again it has a great scent. It has a classic rose scent with a lemony edge.
The flowers are not as layered as the others on the thread .
I think it is a DA one too .

I passed a garden with tall alstroemerias with those colours and also some yellow ones . It looked like the border was on fire !

I love the black petunias. I had some last year and they were very striking. I've got lightening ones this year and like the starry night go through phases of being speckled then mostly dark

I was overjoyed to see some jasmine this morning. I'd had to drastically cut it back last year to redo the trellis and a wasn't sure it would forgive me

I love that Petunia @Oldraver, it's stunning! I had some of that variety last year but unfortunately I couldn't find any this year.

It is absolutely beautiful Smile

I'll post pictures over the next few days. I've been super busy, in between all the thunder storms Shock
I planted one called 'Hyde Hall' - it is just coming into bloom, looks stunning, and I think it's going to be more than 6feet tall Shock
although I might have incorrectly converted that from centimetres

Terralee · 16/06/2020 15:32

I use a lot of pots as the soil in my garden is like clay & full of rubble.

Love the pots (and the plants within!) @Terralee, the great thing with pots is you can move them around (states the obvious), I tend to plug gaps in the borders with them.

I've had a dwarf sunflower collapse this morning, either something's eaten it or it's rotted around the base. I'd potted it with some fuchsias (because I'm short on pots) so all is not lost (and TBH I normally lose 99% of the sunflowers because of slugs anyway).

Pics: cheeky gargoyle in the geraniums, the pots with the gap where the sunflower was Wink and a nice red rose (name unknown).

Old raver snap! Mine started darker and they are getting more yellow in each batch of flowers. Also my rose again because I’m excited.

Loving all these pots pics. I've planted up some for the first time this year in our shared back garden with mixed success (bloody squirrels keep digging them up!).

A question for those of you who use lovely pottery planters - do they have drainage holes?

I've used whatever containers I could get and drill holes in (so there's a couple of buckets in there), but there's a big ceramic planter that someone's left outside with a dead house plant in it which I'm currently using as a water butt because I didn't want to plant it up and for it to get waterlogged. Am I being too cautious?
