Ooh I love Buddleias (pretty much for the butterflies).

Pics for today: That stripey rosebud has opened (if anyone wants to have a crack at id'ing it I'd be grateful) Smile, an Iceberg rose and a pink .

Is that a David Austin rose raptor? If so, my money is on Lady of Shalott. Gorgeous rose!

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 13/06/2020 16:51

It's a definite possibility Crazzzycat thanks! it's got such a distinctive shape to it. I'll have to keep my eye on it as it opens properly.

I honestly didn't think I'd got any DA roses but one has obviously fallen into my shopping basket on some garden centre trip Wink

Gorgeous @Crazzzycat! They look like really nice big, heavy blooms. I'm still waiting on my Buddleia to flower, but my blooms are normally much more thin and straggly than yours!

I also love them for the smell and the butterflies 🦋

That's a lovely garden bouquet @WitchWindows!

popgoesperfection · 13/06/2020 20:43

Gorgeous @WitchWindows
My fuschia which I thought I had killed has started to grow some leaves and has a bud on, not a very good picture but I'm chuffed it's coming back 😀

It is, It's like an achievement isn't it !! I'm on the hunt for a nice climbin rose for a shaded area, can anyone make any suggestions and point me in the right direction?

Noflora · 13/06/2020 22:05

Blush Noisette and Ghislaine de Feligonde are the ones in my garden which are planted in shady spots. The Generous Gardener, Claire Austin and Wollerton Old Hall are in partial shade. How big a space have you got, have you a colour prefernce, how shady?Repeat flowering needed etc

Start here maybe and play with the options www.davidaustinroses.co.uk/popular-searches/climbing-and-rambling-roses-shady-areas

Other rose sites like Peter Beale also give you filters www.classicroses.co.uk/ghislaine-de-feligonde-rambling-rose.html

Meanwhile my first Bathsheba

That's a beautiful rose 🌹
Full shade on the side I'm wanting one on, planting in the ground to grow up an obelisk onto top of a fence. No preference to colour I like a bit of everything Smile

ditavonteesed · 14/06/2020 07:28

I'm going to treat myself to one of those David Austin roses soon they are so beautiful. My roses aren't so good. The one I nearly killed in a pot is getting buds now so that's good but the 2 I bought from the garden centre one flowered one and because it had greenfly the flower only lasted a day and the other has been trying to come out for ages, now it looks like it might have been damaged as well, neither have any sign of any more flowers.

rainydogday · 14/06/2020 09:07

I adore my Bathsheba rose!

rainydogday · 14/06/2020 09:08

Hmmmm not sure how to attach pictures.....thought I had but can't see it

Crazzzycat · 14/06/2020 10:14

@ditavonteesed Do you have some tomato food you can give them? That should encourage them to start putting on a few more buds. It’s still early in the flowering season for roses, so all is not lost!

Picture of my white Peony for today. This one is doing really well, in contrast to my pink Peony that only managed two buds this year.

I thought I’d end up losing the white Peony flowers to the rain, so I cut off quite a few and took them inside. The rain never materialised, but at least I have a lovely bouquet of Peonies to look at now 🙈

I love the buddleja ( always confused of the spelling as some is with the j done without)

I have a few buds in my front garden buddleja but not spring into full life yet. Any yesterday found Mulleins on the back garden ones

ditavonteesed · 14/06/2020 16:46

Don’t know what this is but I bought it at the garden centre yesterday because it’s very pretty.

How extraordinary is that black petunia Anne , wow.
AlwaysVery pretty carpet roses, I only heard of them recently I possibly have space for one or two.
I never knew you could grow those here dita I thought they were an exotic cut flower.
Those white peonies are mouthwatering Crazzy

My first open bloom on a very juvenile Blue Dawn delphinium. And my first Teasing Georgia climber.

Yes, diva, it is a dwarf alstroemeria - I have a similar one which I bought & planted in a pot last August-ish. It didn’t grow much then, & didn’t look particularly happy this spring, but it’s loved all the sun & has filled the pot now.

According to this link slugs love it but I’ve not seen any damage so far.

This pic is from 2 weeks ago, it’s a mass of flowers now, I’ll take another pic tomorrow Smile

My pink clematis that shares the obelisk with the blue has just started flowering so I’ll lob in a couple of those too!
