@Crazzzycat..Thank you that doesn't sound too hard. Ive got Tomorite but might treat it to some special feed.

Its supposed to be a pretty disease resitant one needs to be with me

I was surprised it came in bud as I expected it to be beheaded for transport, but so glad it did as the smell is amazing

Lavender which is so lush it’s ridiculous, I tried to move the pot but the roots have escaped through the bottom gone through weed membrane and firmly attached themselves. The first bud on my tiny fuschia which I got for a couple of quid from Morrison’s at the start of lockdown and a rose which is threatening to bloom soon.

Love that lavender! We’ve just taken delivery of some (smaller than expected, but apparently healthy) lavenders to plant as a hedge. The supplier says lavender has a shelf life of 3-4 years before it gets “scrappy” (technical term Hmm) is this true, in other people’s experience?

AiryFairy1 · 12/06/2020 18:02

I’m hoping tomorrow will be The Day my peony is at its optimum 🤞

ditavonteesed · 12/06/2020 18:16

That lavender in the pot has been neglected for about ten years

Pootle40 · 12/06/2020 19:25

Thanks @noflora

They are all David Austin ones but hey I don't mind naming them as I just love them. Love the fragrances you get from them.

You've done a great job @marchez, you can certainly see how much work you've put into it! It must be so rewarding to see the before and after too. I kick myself constantly for not taking a single before photo of the garden when we moved in 😤

Although I've nothing to contribute unfortunately, I'm very impressed with everyone's knowledge of roses and the different names etc!

I was enticed into buying a new little Fuschia at the supermarket, I have a couple already and normally go for the deep pink & purple varieties but I liked how delicate this lighter coloured one looked 😊

Didn’t think to take a pic but I just bought a ‘coca-cola’ scented geranium!!

Truly smells of cola!

ditavonteesed · 13/06/2020 06:57

Wow @Marchez that's an amazing transformation

Peony Day ☀️ I think the rain came at just the wrong time for absolute perfection, but I’m happy!

My lavender. It started off a a pruned ball in a pot then after a few years wasn't happy so I put it out the front. It did appear to be a bit woody at the bottom but has flowered nicely and is much bigger than the pic shows. ( I couldn't see my phone screen so didn't know how the pic would look)

I wouldn't say it's been looked after and the snow the other year did split it in the middle. It's currently propped with a bit of tree trunk. It's in quite bad 'builders soil' aka sandy remnants and seems happier

Beautiful peony @AiryFairy1 and lavender @Oldraver .
Our lavender is starting to flower. I think we have 2 types , one is Hidcote . The philadelphus has started to flower, just a few blooms. I can't wait for there to be more to fill the garden with scent .

I love the peony @AiryFairy1 Is it a Sarah Bernhardt? It looks quite similar, but I didn't realise that the bloom is so large

@always I’m not sure which variety as they were already in the garden when we moved in... a lovely surprise to discover the first June we were here (moved in August) 😊
Thanks for the lavender feedback - I’ve planted out my little hedge this morning and hope it will start looking good soon! I’ll report back as to its longevity in 3-4 years Grin

ditavonteesed · 13/06/2020 12:56

So I need some advice, I got my clematis got ones with long flowering seasons that are full sun. They came in little cane tripods. Should I take them off the tripods and train them to the obelisk or should I leave them and just train the new growth?

@AiryFairy1 those peonies are fabulous

Crazzzycat · 13/06/2020 14:06

Lovely Peony @AiryFairy1 It looks like it could be a Sarah Bernhart. I have one and the flowers are absolutely massive.

@ditavonteesed I think it’s better to remove the clematis from the little sticks it comes on. If you don’t do that the centre can end quite congested

Oldraver · 13/06/2020 14:07

@ditavonteesed. I would put the obelisk directly over the clematis and hopefully you will have three branches you can tie into each leg of the obelisk

Just loosely tie them up, it wont be long till they put out tendrills and attatche themself

Crazzzycat · 13/06/2020 14:07

@Toilenstripes I’m pretty sure that’s a magnolia. I’m amazed those are still flowering 😮

Toilenstripes · 13/06/2020 14:10

@Crazzzycat I took that picture in April. Sorry, I didn’t mean to misrepresent! 😬

Crazzzycat · 13/06/2020 14:20

One of my buddleia is flowering. It’s a wild/ self-seeded one, so it looks a bit of a mess, but just this morning it was covered in butterflies, so I think i’ll just have to excuse its messy appearance 😁
