Oh I didn't know there was a nature thread @AnneKipanki!

How can I find it? Is it in the gardening section or somewhere else?

Apologies if I posted my moth photos on the wrong thread! 😬

AnneKipanki · 04/06/2020 07:23

I seem to have hidden it .

Morning rain on my flowers Smile

@Noflora I LOVE your roses, and I love the fact that you know and care about all the details 😊

AnneKipanki · 04/06/2020 10:25

Thanks @AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet .
No moles eh ?
We had one in the garden a few decades ago . What a mess .
Paid a molecatcher . No idea what he did .
My husband wants to put a big Rose bed in . I am sorely tempted with all the gorgeous roses on here .

A mole catcher... what an interesting occupation
Grin
I agree with your husband Smile I think people who don't like roses, don't like them because of their appearance in winter. That's the only thing to consider

I have just noticed that “watch this thread” & “hide this thread” are adjacent in the drop down box on the mobile site! Who thought that was a good idea? Confused

Anyway thanks for the steer to it, Anne & Always

@beautyisfoundwithin your moth pics are INCREDIBLE! I’ve only seen a hummingbird hawk moth once, on holiday in Italy; I was wildly excited & the pic I got was a little brown blur Grin

Yes , sometimes the flower is not the interest !

beautyisfoundwithin · 04/06/2020 14:14

Thanks @AnneKipanki & @AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet I'll take a look at that thread!

Thank you @GiantKitten, as I said I was crawling around on all fours trying to be as stealthy as possible - luckily there was no one but DH around to see me! They do flit around quickly and their wings move very fast so it's tricky to get a shot that isn't blurry - I also had many other shots that were useless!

I also realised I forgot to mention that I'm not in the UK! I live in Southern Germany, in the Bavarian Alps.

AnneKipanki · 04/06/2020 14:58

We were on the Romantic Road a few years ago !
@AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet , just planted a black petunia. I remember your little boy wanting black flowers.

I’m going to be controversial here and say that while roses are lovely, I do think they work best when planted amongst other thing 🙈

Some rose bushes have a lovely shape, but others just don’t look that great when not in flower. But it’s easy enough to divert the eye by planting things like cranesbill geraniums around them, or my favourite from the David Austin showgarden; ornamental thistles!

I’ll go and hide in a corner now 🙈🙈🙈

My Philadelphus is flowering! This may not seem that exciting, but I’ve had to wait FIVE long years for this to happen. I thought Philadelphus had a reputation for being easy plants to grow...This one clearly didn’t get that memo 😄
