I have a peony very much like that white one, AnneKapinki (although no yellow and just the faintest touch of pink) Smile

I’ve cut a few since taking the photo though so it doesn’t look as bloomy now. (We have heavy rain forecast overnight so I’m just rescuing them from a drenching Wink)

Also...

a very squat alstroemeria (lithadora flower sneaking in too) - I don’t know why they did that, but the flowers are beautiful! Souvenir plant from Charlecote Park last summer;

the remains of a stubborn little osteospermum from last year. I was all set to chuck it in April, but DH noticed buds on it - most of the stems gave up the ghost but these bits soldier on ❤️ (thunbergia sneaking in here!);

and geraniums, a souvenir from Chatsworth several years ago (bought at about this time of year). It’s a bit sprawly, could do with a neater variety really, but I love the flowers & so do the bees 😊

I never knew what variety peonies came in. Clematis really stunning in all their colours too. Thank you for sharing.

Canterbury Bells all over my garden, Escallonia which was a lovely surprise when I discovered it all overgrown at the back of a border and a clematis that I must find the label for.

Are those Niobe and Nelly Moser Crazzzycat? I have just this minute had a Niobe and a Viticella Alba Luxurians delivered from Taylors. We may have rain tomorrow so want to get them in today.

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 02/06/2020 16:17

Crazzzycat You do have beautiful Clematis' (plural of Clematis)? Grin
I think the one on the left is called 'Inspiration'? I have that too Smile

My Harlow Carr today Smile

So many wonderful pictures Smile

I love looking in other people's gardens too @AnneKipanki
*at them, I don't go in 😂

We were booked to go to Harlow Carr tomorrow, @AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet! Have you seen the forecast? Sad (we’re not going now...)

For the peony lovers, a link to this just popped up on my FB (they’re spying on me again...!)

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 02/06/2020 16:53

Clemati? Cactus/cacti 🤔

Oh that's a shame about the weather, but you can rearrange it for another day? And all your lovely gardens and plants will have some much needed rain. Smile
I did not know that Harlow Carr was the name of a garden centre/gardens

GiantKitten · 02/06/2020 19:53

Oh you didn’t??? How funny! Grin

It’s the northern one of the 4 RHS gardens, near Harrogate. We’ve been before, but not in summer. If it was wet or cold or windy we’d still go, but tomorrow is all 3 (after raining all night so trees will be dripping too!)

We’ll look at going in another week or so. They still have slots (booking isn’t usual, it’s a distancing thing)

This is the forecast Shock

Noflora · 02/06/2020 20:18

Our forecast for tomorrow has changed several times today. I'm losing hope of filling our waterbutts and having more than a day's respite from watering. Just planted 2 really good quality looking clematis from Taylors, I hope they do well, it would make a big difference to tall fencing.

My delphiniums have never been this good and they've been in 8 years at least with a max of 2 main spikes a year in that time.

Noflora · 02/06/2020 20:19

I don't know why I made it sound like the delphinium is more than one plant!

GiantKitten · 02/06/2020 20:48

Those delphiniums (delphinia? 😉) are AMAZING, Noflora!

(I will check the forecast in the morning, but it’s got steadily worse over the last few days)

GiantKitten · 02/06/2020 20:51

I’ve just planted an accidental hollyhock - in a pot - had you considered those?

(I didn’t know it was a hollyhock until I looked up the Latin name on the Lidl label! I just liked the look of the flower in the picture. But they can grow very tall, for fence-hiding purposes)

AnneKipanki · 02/06/2020 20:54

We have had rain . Everything has had a soaking !
I used to have hollyhocks but they tended to get rust .

OP posts:
GiantKitten · 02/06/2020 21:04

Did you say you’re in Scotland, Anne? I know it was landing there first. Hope it was that proper wetting rain! (We had a couple of days like that recently, steady gentle rain, it was wonderful!)

It’s due here from about midnight, & then on & off all morning. Cloud is building...

I don’t know anything about rust, can I avoid it?

Noflora · 02/06/2020 21:18

Photo from above site

I planted this a couple of months ago for the same purpose GiantKitten . It is about 1m now with 2 spikes but is very slender. When it is 2m with a similar girth to my other one it will do that job well, fingers crossed.

I've had no luck with Hollyhocks either, same reason and with diseased leaves the flowers don't look good at all.

AnneKipanki · 02/06/2020 21:21

Yes, Scotland . Grin . The rain did give everything a good soak .

I tried spraying the hollyhocks. It was constant.
The leaves can be enormous too so they ended up looking messy.

Crazzzycat · 02/06/2020 21:35

Hurrah for the first signs of rain! 😃

@NoFlora and @AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet the Clematis on the left is Madame Edouard Andre and the one on the right has been correctly identified as Nelly Mosser

I’ve wasted so many hours over the last few weeks looking at the Taylors website. I think I’ve become a bit obsessed. The Niobe caught my eye as wellas did about a 100 others I’m sure it will be a lovely addition to your garden NoFlora

GiantKitten · 02/06/2020 22:35

Blue Dawn is stunning, Noflora! I don’t suppose it would do well in a pot though? (a big one?)

Thanks for rust advice, it does sound like a nightmare. As I said I bought it by accident, I’m not dead set on having it, so if rust does develop I’ll just pull it up & chuck!

ditavonteesed · 03/06/2020 07:17

Today’s offerings. I’m pleased to see it’s raining. Also something very bad seems to have happened to my rhodedendron. I’m not putting a pic on here because this thread is for pretty pictures. All the flowers have gone and what’s left looks really knarly.

Wow some absolutely amazing flowers. I'm just getting my head round what things are. I'm thinking I need to add some height. I'm starting to see some things that aren't taking so well. I also seem to have every sort of pest you can have. Roses have green fly, the first rose flower was awful and has fallen off already. I have sprayed them liberally with washing up liquid. Rhodenendron has white fly. And one of my heuchera has weird spotty leaves and hasn't thrived at all.
