Hi 👋
I thought it might be nice to have a support thread for us parents? (Can't see one in further Ed yet??)
It's been such a difficult time for our kids - and for us! - but the end is in sight!
Ds will get an e mail at 8.30am (apparently) and can go into college in person if he needs help/advice.
Good luck everyone!

Ds has finally decided to refine his clearing choices.
I thought I was going to have to do it for him.
I've bought Kalms for myself. (And wine)

whatisthisinhere · 09/08/2021 14:09

@ChazsBrilliantAttitude

Today is going to drag. Good luck to everyone
It's going by quite fast for me. Luckily I get to go for a walk in a bit, alone.
BigWoollyJumpers · 09/08/2021 14:10

Our dinner for tomorrow has just been cancelled, entire restaurant closed due to Covid. Assume they were all pinged Shock.

Artdecolover · 09/08/2021 14:11

Ugh.
I feel sick 😒

Longtimenewsee · 09/08/2021 14:12

Oh no @RainBow725! I hope your dc I isn’t too poorly!

cutlerycollector · 09/08/2021 14:29

I was feeling pretty calm up to now, but starting to get quite stressed! Two sets of A level results here! DD1 wasn't given high enough grades last year (despite what teachers said to us and in her reports about how good she was) and has resat the year only to have exams cancelled again! And DD2 is "taking" them as well. I only hope the school have been accurate with their progress grades given up to March. I'm starting to get worried that dd1 is going to be screwed over again!

Artdecolover · 09/08/2021 14:37

I'm off for a massage at 4pm...

DahliaMacNamara · 09/08/2021 14:58

I've been kept awake the last couple of nights by non-A level matters, and now that they're on the way to being sorted, I can let my frazzled brain flit between the prospect of disaster for DD and the notion that whatever-ridiculous-percentage will be awarded A/A* grades. It's possible, I find, to have the same worries simultaneously. What larks.

Artdecolover · 09/08/2021 14:59

Ds was predicted AAB but we are nervous about geography. The "teaching" was SO dire...ugh

frugalkitty · 09/08/2021 15:08

Mine is isolating after his girlfriend tested positive on Saturday!

LaundryFairy · 09/08/2021 15:35

Hi there @BigWoollyJumpers ! We had the same thing happen - booked months ago to a favourite place, now closed. We scrambled around and found somewhere decent that had a table at 4 pm (!) which we took as we still wanted to go out to celebrate/console (delete as appropriate).

Hi there!

Ah lucky...... all seems booked out round here. Trying to change to afternoon tea now, but then DH can't join us, which is sad. Grrrrr. Might just go to the local pub for a drink and fish and chips, any port eh?

Artdecolover · 09/08/2021 15:51

Oh gawd it never occurred to me that the meal could get cancelled 🥺
My massage appt is running late which has irritated me me far more than it should have...😡

NotSorry · 09/08/2021 16:14

ok, 4 rackets retrung, one meeting attended, 3 lessons left to do - keeping busy is keeping me sane!

Babaloola · 09/08/2021 16:32

For me the day is going quite quickly which in my current logic means it must be bad news because bad news comes more quickly than good news 🤦‍♀️

Also Escape to the country ( 🙄 I know, I know) was a couple from Essex ( = DS) looking to move to Cornwall ( = location of insurance offer) so clearly that means he hasn’t made his firm! HELPPPPPPP!

I8toys · 09/08/2021 16:38

I've been running around like a loon all day getting things for his party tomorrow. Cake and balloons collected. Tableware washed and stacked ready for us. Decorations ready to put up. Now watching a film about Oscar Wilde and just catching up on work emails even though I'm on leave until Thursday.

DS just had a zoom call with Rishi Sunak on his work experience and will be busy with this until 5pm. I said he should have asked him how Matt Hancock was doing.

DH and DS2 out with a friend at Blackpool Pleasure Beach until later so just me on my own until later tonight.

storminasnowglobe · 09/08/2021 17:07

@Babaloola your post did make me smile - that is exactly how my brain works too Grin

LaundryFairy · 09/08/2021 17:33

Fish and chips down the pub sounds perfect!

Artdecolover · 09/08/2021 17:37

Mmmmm
Now I want fish and chips

RainBow725 · 09/08/2021 17:43

Thanks and to Pistachio. He's not too bad at the moment - just a bit of a cough and sore throat. I was having kittens this morning as it took me a while to get hold of school but have now made arrangements for someone to collect his results and drop them off to us. We've got GCSE results too but fortunately for younger DS, he was with the ex this weekend so he doesn't have to isolate.

All Very Stressful Indeed. Group hug to all isolating exam results households.

I keep swinging between panic and a calm 'what will be will be'

Artdecolover · 09/08/2021 18:03

I've had my massage, sent dh out for treats and have wine in the fridge

frugalkitty · 09/08/2021 18:11

My DS has said how nervous he's feeling now, which strikes fear into my heart as he generally doesn't give a crap about anything including GCSEs as he's usually so laid back!

Bryonyshcmyony · 09/08/2021 18:20

I've spent the day listening to dd add up the assessment marks for History and compare them with grade boundaries over and over again 🙄
