We know several either with covid or isolating. So far I think our area has got off lightly, with no school being missed.

I'm still convinced we will get covid or told to isolate before our holiday next Friday. Then if we manage the holiday it'll be ds2's driving test coming up. I've already told ds1 if he gets pinged while at work he's to drive to his university house to isolate. I'm hoping Ds2 will get called for a vaccine soon if they start on 17 and 9 months. He's almost there, all the more local walk in centres online say over 40's only. Though none are very local.

Fiddlersgreen · 22/07/2021 11:47

We are debating whether to cancel our holiday (south coast) whilst we are still eligible for a refund.
We have to decide by Sunday. I really want to do and so do the kids but if one of tests positive just before then we lose the money.
Also concerned that if we do go, places/activities may end up not being open.
When we booked we truly thought we’d be out of all this by then

Zandathepanda · 22/07/2021 12:09

Uni Dd came home to avoid catching covid as it is prolific in Jesmond students (Newcastle) and she’d already spent 14 days in total isolating surrounded by positive people. Whilst at home, the rest of her Uni household caught it (bar one). She went back up for a night to see Six (already cancelled once and so socially distanced and got better seats). Couldn’t go back to her isolating house so had to stay with another friend. She’s back down, still negative. But it seems that night one of the Six cast/crew got it and now Six shows are cancelled for the moment.

It’s like playing a twisted dark game of dodgems.

She’s annoyed at a report stating students aren’t getting vaccinated - they really do want to but they’re either isolating, positive or can’t have it because they just had it.

Zandathepanda · 22/07/2021 12:27

…just can covid, that should say

Zandathepanda · 22/07/2021 12:28

…or even just had covid!

What were we saying about brain fog?!!

Fferny1 · 22/07/2021 14:35

I haven't even had Covid ( no antibodies according to react test) so no excuse, but messaged my kids prospective driving instructor 3 times over what to have for dinner yesterday ( thought it was my daughter)😂😂😂
I've not met her yet ...

Monkey2001 · 22/07/2021 14:50

@Fferny1 don't forget that most of us have menopausal brain fog here!

Zandathepanda · 22/07/2021 16:19

Fferny1 Grin I love the fact it was 3 times too! Yes the brain fog is the perimenopause bit for me - the heat is not my friend either when I’m hot-flushing anyway. I have a theory it’s a evolutionary survival mechanism for women our age to be human radiators to their grandchildren. In the ice age that would have proved useful.

ealingwestmum · 22/07/2021 16:24

My memory struggles to remember where many of you are, but St Mary’s, Hanwell (Greenford Ave) W7 vaccinating 16+ tomorrow, if any of you are local enough to trek to West London...

NCTDN · 22/07/2021 16:55

Not needed for dd now WinkWinkbut out of interest, are they publicly advertising for 16+?

ealingwestmum · 22/07/2021 17:06

No, on local FB pages; nothing has been official in our area, just word of mouth from local volunteer workers. I’d hate for anyone to waste their time if turned away but many local

EverythingDelegated · 22/07/2021 17:42

Fiddlers - we're away this week and I was very nervous last week about one or all of us having to SI. We didn't seriously consider cancelling but I was worried. What I would say is that there is no evidence of anything being closed where we are (North Norfolk). Might be worth joining any local FB pages you can find for where you're going for updates on that sort of thing.

Fferny1 · 22/07/2021 17:58

DD2 is doing an Invest In course over the next few days in London. Apparently they have to wear smart casual. So that will be an excuse to order 3 mini skirts, vest tops & 3 shirts then ...
Thanks for the tip off @Ealing 🌼

Shimy · 22/07/2021 18:56

Thanks for the heads up @ealingwestmumIt just so happens I’m taking DS to Sudbury Hill tomorrow so we might try our luck.

Shimy · 22/07/2021 19:02

@ealingwestmum St Mary’s what is it pls? church or school ta.

ealingwestmum · 22/07/2021 19:15

Church Hall/Community Centre. Apologies, I don’t know it personally but Googled it; I hope it ends up being successful for any of you that try! 🤞

Is the invest in course F2F hence the need for said clobber?
Fferny1 · 22/07/2021 19:51

Yes @Proggymat.
Several friends are still in London as they have family flats there and they've been unable to go home due to Covid regs. So it's also an excuse for some socialising.

Shimy · 22/07/2021 20:16

@ealingwestmum I’ve Googled and found it thanks.

ProggyMat · 22/07/2021 20:16

@Fferny1 Ah, then she ought to order as much clobber as needed and enjoy!

Fiddlersgreen · 22/07/2021 20:49

Thanks for the tip @ealingwestmum we are only about half an hour from there so might give it a try.

Good idea @EverythingDelegated I will join some local FB groups. I have also spoken to the hotel today and they said they’ve adjusted their policy so we can amend the booking up to the day before. So no refund if we can’t go but we could transfer it to next year instead

Fiddlersgreen · 22/07/2021 20:50

@Fferny1 love a good excuse for new clothes!

EverythingDelegated · 22/07/2021 20:53

I join FB groups for anywhere I go on holiday in the UK, usually unfollow them when we get home but stay in them for future reference. My FB ads get quite confused as they try and work out where I actually live.

Fferny1 · 22/07/2021 21:29

@Proggymat DD would agree with you there. I think she's one of Depops best customers. She buys & sells like there's no tomorrow.

@Fiddlers she would be heartily in agreement with you there 😁.
Strangely dd1 is really parsimonious and dd2's twin brother is perfectly happy living in his schools sports kit.

Monkey2001 · 22/07/2021 21:50

Good luck to the West London vaccine seekers, let us know how you get on - you may see each other without knowing!
