@Piggywaspushed

Now you see when I went to get my 'kitten' , I came back with two....
That happened to us with our rescue cats too. They were sisters, it would have been sad to split them up they barely tolerate each others existence now
stoneysongs · 21/07/2021 18:08

@ealingwestmum

My DH would be doing very well at 5th Singingtones Grin
Yes, he's ahead of every inanimate object, so nothing to complain about!
Oblomov21 · 21/07/2021 18:15

@Oblomov21 well done to your DS!
@Orangecinnamon21 The tiny lass that adored your DH sounds fabulous. Perhaps it’s best to bear in mind who will do the mundane stuff Wink
No pecking order in the event of an emergency in our house that I’m aware of.
< looks quizzically at DD and Ddog>

Monkey2001 · 21/07/2021 18:54

I think the reason the dog is at the top of the loveable rating in our household is that she is always, reliably, delighted to see everyone and wants to love us as much as she can. Dogs just accept what comes their way and don't have grumpy days unlike all the human family members!

icanbewhatiwant · 21/07/2021 18:57

@Orangecinnamon21 It'll be hard to choose which dog. We bought a new puppy last feb (before we knew we were going into lockdown) I can't remember whether it was this thread I shared a pic or the university thread. We had just lost our yellow Labrador, we still had her daughter who is more of a red lab. We wanted a black pup so that she's be different to the one we'd lost....went to look at a litter nearby, there were blacks and yellows, we ended up bringing home another yellow one, she was the one that kept coming to us the most. Ds3 kept saying but you wanted black. The pup has turned more red now so is very similar to our older lab.

icanbewhatiwant · 21/07/2021 18:58

@Monkey2001 yes! The men in this house are SO flipping grumpy. The 2 dogs always love me and want to be with me no matter what.

EwwSprouts · 21/07/2021 19:13

@Oblomov21 great to hear of another pass!

@Orange We definitely need a photo. Miss having a dog.

Yes, it's lovely to have someone who's always pleased to see me (especially now that I am living with teens).
NCTDN · 21/07/2021 21:00

@20newnames Bristol is def dds favourite but think it could potentially be the lowest offer as no others have her college in possibly contextually offers.

I took DD to the drop in vaccine clinic and she got her first COVID jab. She's 17 and 6 months.

Monkey2001 · 21/07/2021 21:04

@NCTDN where did you manage to get a vaccine? Was it a walk in? Did she have to justify herself? I might try again.

NCTDN · 21/07/2021 21:14

Yes it was a walk in. I got this message from one of the medics who works there so decided it was worth a try:

Hi the programme isn’t advertising call ups for those below 18 yet but if someone from 16-18 wishes to have the vaccine we can offer it and the national protocol covers them.
Yes anywhere operating under the national protocol - so that’s most of the pharmacy sites or national vaccination centres. GP and hospital sites may be slightly different as they can operate under other protocols / directions so best checking with them.

MirandaWest · 21/07/2021 21:36

Well done @Oblomov21 DS Smile

I am 45 and peri menopausal. Have been taking HRT for a couple of months now and it has been helping with my night sweats, waking up at night, anxiety (although have been taking ADs for a couple of years anyway), brain fog etc. Although it does seem to be rather up and down. Also dealing with DHs mental health issues since his mum died last year.

Good thing the DC are generally quite nice Smile

MirandaWest · 21/07/2021 21:37

I wish school had finished. Still another 1.5 days. And all online. Had to wake DS up for his 10:15 lesson today and he moaned that I woke him from a dream…

FoolsAssassin · 21/07/2021 21:38

We’re trying tomorrow when taking DD. I have got a copy of DH’s shielding email in case it helps. DS is over 17.9 now. It’s a hospital site though.

Thanks, that is the most promising thing I have heard yet! One of DS's friends is working at a walk in centre, will ask him whether they have that advice too.
AnneOfCleavage · 21/07/2021 22:46

Oh that's interesting. At the hub where I volunteer I asked about a friend of my DD's who is 18 in Oct so 17.9 and they said no under 18s as of yet. I'll try at one of the pharmacies where I volunteer too as I reckon I'd have more joy there as it's privately run.

Monkey2001 · 21/07/2021 22:52

DS had gone camping for a few days. In their planning list was an agreement that everybody would do a LFT before leaving - sad times, but very mature of them.

Heifer · 22/07/2021 08:27

Seems I opened a can of worms with the PM talk :-) I feel I need to go to the doctors but I can't do it yet. Need to feel a bit better before I can (which I know is mad but that is how I feel atm)

Congrats to those passing driving tests (theories and practical).

Thanks for the heads up re Contextual Offers. I had a look at York and it seems our postcode is eligible under their contextual offer scheme. Our post code area is a very mixed bag, with us being somewhat in the middle. It says Your home postcode will be automatically assessed, so you just apply as normal.

The other thing I noticed with York if you've taken part in one of their free online courses you could also be eligible for a reduced offer:
1 of the courses would be perfect for DD as it would give her something "extra" to do instead of EPQ, it's only 4 hrs a week over 3 weeks and no presentation involved! I think it could be DDs get out of jail free card - as would give her something to write about in PS too.

We are off to Tatton Park Flower show today - it's going to be hard but I need to go, not least because the tickets are £35 each!

NCTDN · 22/07/2021 08:39

@Heifer they're selling parasols for £5 Wink

Heifer · 22/07/2021 08:45

@NCTDN can I wear it to keep everyone away from me? :-)

I was so looking forward to going but def having a low moment this week. And the thought of so many people isn't appearling either but off we go (well not rushing)..

NCTDN · 22/07/2021 09:05

We are our lunch in the car with air conditioning blowing Grin

FoolsAssassin · 22/07/2021 10:15

No go for the vaccine at a hospital walk in hub

Monkey2001 · 22/07/2021 11:17

GP said no here too. Now my brother in law has it, DD of one of my best friends had just had it, one of DS's best friends tested positive a couple of days ago, luckily he had not seen him recently. We are in a Covid hotspot, so wondering if we should try to catch it quickly and get it out of the way before it stops us going on the extended family holiday we have booked in Wales.

I very rarely swear, not even when giving birth, but I can feel a huge mass of expletives trying to burst out of my head because the vaccine situation for our DC is SO stupid and unfair! AngryAngryAngry
