Piggy Sorry to hear your ill, how are you? Hope you’re holding up well.

Bluemarigold hello and welcome Smile

Did Heifer test positive as well? All the best to you too.

crazycrofter · 07/08/2021 21:52

Sorry you’ve got covid @Piggywaspushed, what a nightmare! Is this the second time for all of you? When did you first get it?

mummabear74 · 08/08/2021 00:15

Hope you're all feeling better soon @Piggywaspushed

We aren't dog owners but walked a couple of dogs when the owners had covid during lockdowns 1 & 2 and posted a message asking for help on local FB group.

stoneysongs · 08/08/2021 01:51

I know you're not supposed to but I would probably walk the dog very early in the morning or very late at night, like 5am / midnight so that there would be no risk to anyone else. Or see if one of the neighbours could do it now and then. We have a nice WhatsApp group and people are very helpful.

BlueMarigold · 08/08/2021 07:48

Get well soon @Piggywaspushed Flowers

Heifer · 08/08/2021 08:05

damn - DD is positive.... I can see how this spreads so quickly. If DD hadn't been in contact with someone testing positive I don't think I would have taken her for a PCR on her symptoms, especially having a negative LFT on the same day! Even last night she said she was feeling better, temp had gone back down (was 38 down to 37.1) and wasn't feeling sick anymore. Not sure how she is this morning yet though.

Have to admit to now being nervous, as I really didn't want to catch this myself.. I am very overweight (hence my username). At least I've been double jabbed.

Today will be spent mostly cleaning! Thank goodness we did both self isolate yesterday (no fishing for DH) - I was sure DD would be ok tbh but thought just it best to wait until we had results - they came back within 14 hours. Pleased PIGGY mentioned she had 4 negative LFTs including on the same day as a positive PCR as that def made my mind up.

Hope you're felling ok @Piggywaspushed.

Now to figure out what to do about the 2 dogs (1 of which is tricky)....

One thing I'm not sure about - do DH and I need to get tested or do we only do it if we have any symtoms? It doesn't say for us to test - just isolate in the 2 emails and texts I received.

Got to admit to feeling a little frustrated as I spent AGES working out DHs work schedule as he gave up his full time job 3 weeks ago to go full time working for our business - how typical is that. So not only will he not get paid for the 10 days SI but I have to redo the schedule! Also need to do our accounts as they are due and if I end up being really ill there is no way DH would know where I'm up to or what to do...

Lastly - any tips on how to help DD if she does get worse?

Orangecinnamon21 · 08/08/2021 11:10

The poor thing @Heifer. I have no idea what you should do but I seem to remember reading something about walking animals etc.

The work situ sounds really frustrating.

Maybe things to keep temp down...lemsips etc. Not sure what it like where you are It's very muggy here and hot anyway.

If throat ache...antiseptic throat spray?
If nausea ginger...anything ginger ?

Thanks @Orangecinnamon21.

The link you've done only takes us to the Topic page rather than the actual thread though.

DD isn't feeling ill at all really (yet), just feels like a cold. I've had 2 calls from track and trace that I've managed to miss both times. They will want me to name people DD has been in contact with and she isn't happy about that at all as apparently "no one names anyone". What is the point if people aren't honest!

In 8 days time, DH and I wouldn't even need to isolate as we have both been doubled jabbed, just take a PCR which I still can't get my head around. We could easily be clear right now but still have it now/later and pass onto people so 1st test could be clear and then we wouldn't know until got symptoms and tested again by which time could have spread it around. I can only see the numbers going up and up once the new rules come into effort on 16th Aug.

AnneOfCleavage · 08/08/2021 11:38

Thanks for the tag and new thread Orange Smile

So sorry your DD is now positive Heifer and fingers crossed you and your DH don't get it or if you do it's only mild.

How is everyone in the Piggy household holding up? Hope you're coming through the other side of feeling rotten.

I would never have believed that this summer would be the way it is after last summer and all the 'eat out to help out' push.

AnneOfCleavage · 08/08/2021 11:40

The link works for me.

ExtremelyDisorganised · 08/08/2021 11:52

So frustrating now we are so close to not having to SI for a positive contact any more if double jabbed. Especially as the rules don't seem to apply to Boris. I'd have a job remembering everyone I'd had a contact with in any given 48 hours now as life has pretty well gone back to normal here.

Monkey2001 · 08/08/2021 11:59

Sorry to hear that @Heifer, hope you don't get it, but as you are double jabbed, if you do it should be mild. It does sound like rubbish timing for your business, can it be done from home? Companies House and HMRC extended deadlines last year, I suggest you log in to check what your deadlines are this year.

Hope Piggy household is now on the mend.

Thanks for the new thread @Orangecinnamon21, we are a productive lot!

Heifer · 08/08/2021 13:18

Thank Monkey
All of DHs work at the moment will be at clients gardens so he won't be able to earn whilst isolating wlthough he will make good use of time, working on business plan, updating his autocad training, and doing DIY that he never had time to do before.

Deadline for our accounts has already been stretched. I was having a problem getting on with them as have been feeling meh for a while, so I need to kick myself and get on with it as just heard from accountants that they HAVE to be done this month.. Tomorrow is the day..

Heifer · 08/08/2021 13:21

So, once we are out of isolation, we want to go and visit Nottingham and York (along with Lancaster, Bristol and Bath later).

If you were going to Nottingham and York to visit - which city would you stay overnight in? Any recommendations for either?

Both are about 2.15 hrs from us - and about 1.45 mins from eachother.

Monkey2001 · 08/08/2021 13:27

@Heifer York is renting out campus accommodation which is a great way to try out a hall. No longer on University Rooms, but on their website - www.york.ac.uk/students/accommodation/campus-accommodation/summeraccommodation/

stoneysongs · 08/08/2021 13:29

I think I'd stay in whichever of those two your DC prefers (if there is a preference), so you get that extra bit of info from mooching around the city in the evening, eating out etc.
Or whichever one you know least, if that's a way of separating them. Oh I don't know! I started off thinking this might be a useful post but it really isn't!

Oblomov21 · 08/08/2021 13:48

Thanks Orange.

Oblomov21 · 08/08/2021 14:02

Orange I didn't get a notification, even though you linked me in the list earlier. That's wierd isn't it. Not happy. Worried something is wrong. Hmm

OrangeCinnamonCocktail · 08/08/2021 15:27

@Oblomov21 I'm not sure why...ive been trawling the settings and can't see anything related to notifications. Perhaps in email preferences?

Oblomov21 · 08/08/2021 15:53

Wierd Orange. Thanks anyway, I'll keep an eye on it.

OrangeCinnamonCocktail · 08/08/2021 15:54

@Oblomov21 Ok..it is in the talk preferences. Click on the little blue arrow next to Talk menu and it's under 'customise' you can then make sure you get a notification when mentioned.
