Anyone seen the travelling onesie on FB. I was tempted for dd ...

Hoody / blanket thing.

DS says he can't think of anything.

I've bought him overpriced aftershave, a couple of overpriced sweatshirts (there's a particular theme developing here - can you tell?). He is partial to several niche brands and everything is overpriced!

He did make me feel terribly guilty as I didn't get him an advent calendar because he specifically said not to bother - he bought himself one from Tesco yesterday. He said he'd told me not to buy a Lego Star Wars one but he would have liked a chocolate one.

UrsulaPandress · 01/12/2018 21:59

That could be classed as cruelty. Having to buy his own advent calendar.

starfleet · 01/12/2018 22:04

I did buy him a huge bag of Hershey's so that has helped somewhat with the disappointment of not receiving advent calendar Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/12/2018 22:05

The travelling onesie looks quite tempting for work. If I got really fed up I could just close everything off and hide.

I didn't get dd a advent calendar cos she doesn't ever open most of the doors, even when there is chocolate.

For Xmas I've got DD1 a hard shell case for her violin and a Breville sandwich toaster with waffle plates amongst other things. She asked for some long sleeved tops that she doesn't have to iron too!

She loved the little Xmas goodies box I sent this week. I really enjoy picking out a few nice bits and sending them off to her. Especially as she is not home until the 21st!

UrsulaPandress · 01/12/2018 22:51

Dd is home for the day tomorrow to do some modelling at a charity lunch.

Let's hope she doesn't have too late a night.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/12/2018 07:25

That'll be nice Ursula :)

DS is having a new fountain pen, a couple of t shirts and a surprise sodastream. As usual he can't think of anything and to be honest I'm still not recovered enough (bereavement) to be bothered with Christmas

NoHaudinMaWheest · 02/12/2018 12:51

DD is getting books because that is all she ever wants.

She has revision week, then exams, then home on the 15th.
Marmite the 21st is so late so a Christmas goodies box is an excellent idea.
I have to send Dd some tinsel to put on her wheelchair tomorrow. I am sure she could buy some in Edinburgh but she doesn't go into shops she doesn't know very well and the most obvious place isn't accessible.

We have hopefully good news on the laundry front. Accommodation services are going to put a washer-dryer in the pantry for her corridor for the use of those who can't access the general laundry room. It hasn't been installed yet but a space has been cleared and we are hoping it will be done over the Christmas break.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/12/2018 13:02

That's good NoHaudin - it's taken some time to sort.

dd is home and relaxing. Not sure whether I should point out that her laundry is waiting!
She has a fair bit of work to do and exams first day back but she does need to get a decent rest first.

It must be nice to have her home kitten. Exams straight after Christmas are a bit of a pain as you can't properly relax.

Knotaknitter · 02/12/2018 13:54

That is really good news Nohaudin, I'm glad to hear that they've come up with a workable solution.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/12/2018 14:59

It's really nice to have her home :)

Oh that is good news NoHaudin.

Is really good to have DS back too. We went out for lunch after church today, there was plenty of good natured banter between him and his younger sister...i think they might finally be starting to get on a bit better. He is utterly knackered, I think he might sleep for a week!

UrsulaPandress · 02/12/2018 16:20

Dd has another two weeks yet. She is staying at home tonight as she has no lectures until 4pm tomorrow.

One of her flat mates has moved out into slightly cheaper accommodation as she goes home Wednesday to Sunday. She has a boyfriend at the University in her home town and simply has not settled at all.

Another flat mate has confided to DD that she is struggling mentally and is ‘cutting’. Dd is wondering why people choose to tell her their problems, visibly shudders at the thought of self harm and feels that she is not particularly strong on the MH front (she is she doesn’t know it yet). She has asked her friend to talk to someone (she is sweetheart, you).

NoHaudinMaWheest · 02/12/2018 16:43

ursula she sounds like a really good friend.

Panda dd and ds got on much better once he had been away for a while.

LoniceraJaponica · 02/12/2018 18:37

DD has got her first offer!

It is her first choice, and they didn't hang around or waste time by sending an acknowledgement, just an offer. I'm happy that things are moving in the right direction at last.

starfleet · 02/12/2018 20:19

That's great news Lonicera - keep us posted as they come in.

It must be hard for those who struggle with MH issues - especially being away from family and friends (even though they are making new ones)

DS was at the hospital with a friend this week. She fell and blacked out going into her flat (lives opposite), she cracked her head and was taken to hospital in an ambulance. The two girls in his flat went with her and DS and another flatmate went along with phone chargers and food and waited until she had been discharged to bring her back to halls. It's nice when they look out for each other.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/12/2018 20:26

She's clearly a good listener Ursula..

It's good that your ds and others looked after the flatmate starfleet. It's a lot of grown up stuff they are all having to deal with.

Lonicera I'm so pleased for your dd. Congratulations to her! It sounds like it's all coming together.

Well done Lonicera's DD. Star Fleet, sounds like your DS is in a very supportive group of friends. Lovely. Smile

marmiteloversunite · 02/12/2018 20:52

That's great news Lonicera!! So pleased for her. X

LoniceraJaponica · 02/12/2018 20:53

You should all be proud of your DC. They sound like a caring bunch of young people. I hope DD manages to meet similar when she goes to university. The boyfriend's drinking continues unabated. The looming exams don't seem to be making a difference. Christmas and New Year might be a bit of a deal breaker.

TheFirstOHN · 02/12/2018 20:57

Well done to your DD Lonerica
