Yes it is "natural", but vile Grin

Hardwick I know how you feel as DD had a very rough start in life, and we couldn't enjoy her because we practically lived at the children's hospital during her first year.

DD has a July birthday so will never have it at university once she goes there. She was away with her boyfriend for her 18th this year, but I wasn't sad at all as she was doing exactly what she wanted to do on her birthday - Disneyland Paris.

HardwickWhite · 29/11/2018 21:17

Can I just say (and I will deny ever saying it) I love you all. Thank you. 🎂

LoniceraJaponica · 29/11/2018 21:57

This is the most supportive thread and set of posters I have ever come across on mumsnet.

I wish more were like this.

TheFirstOHN · 29/11/2018 22:39

Ds1 rang me up yesterday to talk some more about Dr Who and the decline in standards.

If he is referring to Chibnall's writing, I completely agree.

LoniceraJaponica · 29/11/2018 22:51

I am loving this series of Dr Who. I much prefer the uncomplicated plots. The last few series were overly complicated and try too hard. I got bored with watching it.

UrsulaPandress · 29/11/2018 23:41

I'm warming to it.

HardwickWhite · 30/11/2018 00:02

I loved peter capaldi but a female doctor is a winner in this house.

DD is bewildered that only her, and two boys go to the common room to watch it together every week. DH and I suspect she only watches it for us now though.

marmiteloversunite · 30/11/2018 06:49

Hard wick I think you should eat a shed load of cake to celebrate. (I could join in if you need help?!)Grin

UrsulaPandress · 30/11/2018 07:04

Mmmmm cake. I've joined an Aga facebook page and discovered the joys of shortbread mince pies.

How are you doing marmite?

marmiteloversunite · 30/11/2018 07:54

I'm good thanks. Had flu with chemo last week. Joyful!!
DD2 had it too. She's had two weeks off school which is not great during her GCSEs.

This is a good week though. Seeing friends and making the most of it.

LoniceraJaponica · 30/11/2018 07:56

Good to see you on here Marmite. I hope you feel better soon Flowers

LoniceraJaponica · 30/11/2018 07:59

Finally, things are moving on the UCAS front. DD's application has been submitted, and two universities have sent acknowledgements already.

UrsulaPandress · 30/11/2018 08:18

Gosh was it a year ago! It all seemed to move quickly once the button was pressed.

marmiteloversunite · 30/11/2018 08:58

Lonicera exciting times for your DD. I can remember offers coming in and DD jumping around. I presume as she has her A levels they will be firm offers?

captainoftheshipwreck · 30/11/2018 16:51

marmite I was wondering how you were doing, hope you're feeling better Flowers

UrsulaPandress · 30/11/2018 17:59

DD has had her first essay back and is pleased with the result. Relief all round.

LoniceraJaponica · 30/11/2018 18:04

I can't see why they wouldn't marmite. All the admissions tutors told DD at their open days that she would get offers straight away as she already had the right grades.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/11/2018 20:00

That's really rotten Marmite, I'm glad you are recovering from the flu.

How exciting Lonicera!!!

dd comes home tomorrow for the Christmas hols - vacating her room for interview candidates. I can't believe it was a year ago that she was waiting for her interview. Blimey. Bedroom is cleaned and fresh bedding on. Some favourite things in the cupboard.

I wonder how it will be sharing the tv with her Grin

Months ago - Hi DS, I see that group you are a member of has a concert at the end of November. Can you let me know if you are part of it and I'll come over.

Monday - Hi mum, I'm in a concert on Friday, can you come?

I am really hoping that uni sharpens up his planning skills but I'm not seeing it so far.

Nettleskeins · 01/12/2018 15:17

five days isn't soo bad.Grin
did the concert go well?

dd has hung up some fairy lights in the tree outdoors. She went to buy fairy lights, what we needed was loo paper and cat food. I bought those..

UrsulaPandress · 01/12/2018 15:26

What are your offspring having for Christmas?

I was awoken by a text at 2.13am the other morning with a present request from DD. A subscription to History Today! Took me by surprise ...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/12/2018 15:48

After having seen the state of DDS shoes and having a bit of time to spare this afternoon before we take her home, I've taken her emergency shoe shopping and now she has Vans for Christmas.

What are your offspring having for Christmas?

He has asked for money towards a ticket to Reading festival. I've also bought him one of those oversized hoodies that doubles as a blanket.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/12/2018 17:12

A hoody/blanket?? Interesting....
