A safe space for worrying.

that's a handy hint star fleet, we need a new frying pan Wink

me too Ursula, do you think people are fooled that I'm a helpful sort of person?

I've not touched a drop of alcohol yet, but I'm so tired I can't actually construct sentences or indeed feel my fingers.

UrsulaPandress · 16/08/2018 22:13

I've got a kitchen groaning with stuff just needing to be off loaded. I so do not need a frying pan.

DD has gone out with half a dress on. I'm in the dog house for not realising it was navy blue. She only ever wears black. How was I to know?

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/08/2018 22:19

It sounds like she ripped half of it off in disgust at your colour blindness Grin

UrsulaPandress · 16/08/2018 22:27

Prinks are at her ex bfs so she will have a face like a slapped arse to go with her half a dress.

I bet it's a look that's all the rage!

dd is on her way home. She's cream crackered too. I'm secretly glad that it's not going to be another half sleepless night.

UrsulaPandress · 16/08/2018 22:39

I keep thinking I will sleep well tonight but of course I won't as I'll be waiting for Missy to get back.

Hope your DD has had a fab evening

That is harsh, will nobody think of the Mothers? Grin

She has and she's really happy. We've had fizz now.

starfleet · 17/08/2018 06:31

DS has just woken me up to tell me he is home. Such a kind child.

UrsulaPandress · 17/08/2018 06:32

Nice. I woke to a text saying she'll be home at 10. Which beats her bouncing on the bed. I suppose.

There's so much to do!!!!

Panics.

Going to collect DD who stayed over at a friend's. Will have to take a bucket as she feels sick.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/08/2018 07:29

oh, I miss those days of being bounced on by a small excitable.

dd was in at a sensible time last night. Why I woke at 6:45 is anyone's guess, I have plans til later when I help her tackle paperwork.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/08/2018 07:30

uh oh Lonicera.

Knittinganewme · 17/08/2018 08:29

I'd forgotten what a half decent night's sleep was like, lovely, that's what it is like.

He's got his accommodation sorted out and has an appointment with the bank today to convert to a student account.

UrsulaPandress · 17/08/2018 08:43

We don't find out about accommodation until Monday. Another mild stress issue.

OP posts:
Knittinganewme · 17/08/2018 08:55

He had an accommodation email within hours, it wasn't his first choice but it's next door to the first choice. He has a small double bed aka "the only size sheets I don't own" (Dunelm for anyone in the same boat)

I need a t shirt with the slogan "Have you checked your email?"

UrsulaPandress · 17/08/2018 11:11

Checked and actually read it all the way through would be useful here.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/08/2018 12:04

I don't think dd will find out about accomodation for a couple of weeks, but it doesn't really matter. It comes down to either being in a posh old bit with creaky floors and probably the bathroom in a basement somewhere (which hopefully won't be the case) or a more modern hopefully with her own shower. All in college though.

So was the sick bucket needed Lonicera?

MsAwesomeDragon · 17/08/2018 12:39

Dd's bed (for those of you following the bed saga) caused tears as "the instructions don't have all the necessary information!!!". So she stopped for dinner and I took over. I achieved a proper bed in approx 40 mins. She was very grateful as she'd spent a good couple of hours getting more and more frustrated but not wanting to admit defeat. She now has a bed Grin

We got accommodation info yesterday, and the bed is a long single. So now we need to find somewhere that sells long single sheets. I think we've got pretty much everything else she's going to need as my mum keeps picking things up from her charity shop. We seem to have quite a lot in the uni supplies store (the cupboard under the stairs)

Knittinganewme · 17/08/2018 12:48

I didn't know that there was such a thing as a long single, I used to have a 3/4 bed in my student days (the only good thing about the house we were renting) and remember the luxury of that extra width.

UrsulaPandress · 17/08/2018 12:54

I had a three quarter bed when I moved into a flat share in London. It was fab. Then when I moved into a bedsit I purchased a pine double bed from Habitat which was delivered at 8am in the morning the day after my 26th birthday. I had a stonking hangover but was determined to have a decent bed to sleep in so I built it. I loved that bed. We finally got rid of it in the skip outside my dad's house when we were selling it after he died. That was 31 years later! That bed had been taken down and rebuilt 6 times in different locations.

I've read that Dunelm is good for different bedding sizes.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/08/2018 14:18

I managed to have a bed smaller than a single at university. Hmm

But MrsAD, you genius!! Going to clear out under the stairs and put the uni stuff there.

dh will love that considering that half the house is dislocated because of my aborted decorating attempt.

Was handed a form that dd needs to send by post. I think she was bewildered by the whole put it in an envelope and stick a stamp on it thing Grin

MarchingFrogs · 17/08/2018 14:24

Bed linen in weird sizes, including the 3'x7'.
Not cheap. One alternated would be to just wrap a double flat sheet round, not trying to tuck in the ends.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/08/2018 16:07

under the stairs is sorted :) took the packaging off the stuff we've bought so far. Really glad we did that, it rapidly turns into mountains.

starfleet · 17/08/2018 17:39

We have got as far as writing a list. I didn't have the energy to do anything else.

DS's priority today was assembling his chiminea ready to take to Leeds.

eatinglesschocolate · 17/08/2018 18:44

×MsAwesomeDragon* Ikea sheets are a bit longer than normal beds. I know this because they are baggy on our normal beds!Confused
