They've left college, now we are trying not to think about a certain date.

Checking in. Still not sorted a plan B. DS still not managed to get a summer job. DS enjoying the freedom now he's turned 18, and i'm not enjoying the lying awake waiting for him to come in!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/07/2018 10:03

That is one of the downsides flatmouse!

HardwickWhite

DH and I are going to a county show tomorrow, meeting up with friends. We're not taking any of the children. Out of the blue, DS1 asked if he could come too.

We have a local small farm with a few rare breeds, but it's only open to the public a few times a year. There's an open day this weekend so I'd offered to take DS2 (ASD and animals are one of his interests) and DD (artistic and likes photographing and sketching animals). DS1 has randomly decided that he wants to come too, even though it's not the sort of thing that interests him.

I think he"s suddenly realised he'll be leaving home in two months.

Thank you guys, it's kind of nice just to have someone say "it's ok to be worrying", we understand how worrying it is.
I'll try what you said Kitten, keeping occupied sounds good.

Knittinganewme · 25/07/2018 11:18

I also feel very appreciated at the moment. I imagine he'll appreciate me even more by November. He will have discovered that replacing the toilet roll before it runs out, buying toiletries, cleaning the toilet and making meals magically appear do not all happen by themselves.

UrsulaPandress · 25/07/2018 13:25

I am concerned that DD will not notice that her bathroom even needs cleaning. I commented the other day that I had to clean the sink after the windows had been open during the fire, and she said she hadn't noticed.

starfleet · 25/07/2018 16:38

DS knows where the bleach lives in the bathroom and has been known to clean the shower on occasion. He also vacuums on instruction.

Cleaning should be fine - he can't cook though.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/07/2018 16:43

Good luck DrP :)

We've had a lovely bike ride together today. We did a route that we tried when she was young. So much easier now she's an adult and doesn't start crying when the going gets tough Grin

Dd has made lentil bolognese for the whole guide camp apparently.

I am stuck in bed as I fell over in the garden yesterday evening and I've done something strange to my false knee. (As well as all the other bumps and bruises). I'm hoping she might come home and cook me something. My bed is full of ryvita crumbs.

How are things derek?

HesMyLobster · 25/07/2018 17:38

Hi everyone, I'm breaking my self imposed 2 week holiday ban because I was missing you all!
Thankyou for the new thread Kitten. Hope your full on week hasn't been too exhausting.
Glad I checked in - so much has happened,
Thinking of you Marmite and sending hugs and positive thoughts Thanks
Derek you are dealing with so much, I hope you have some support for yourself. How is DS's GF doing? Hope you're still going to Tenerife tomorrow and have a wonderful break. Thanks

Gnome congratulations on your DD's graduation, sounds like a lovely day.
Panda well done to your DS on his epic bike ride - that's impressive!
Ursula hope your knee improves, and that your DD is back to look after you soon!

Chocolate and Hardwick you both make me laugh! Grin

PandaG · 25/07/2018 17:41

DS can clean, hoover and iron (very, very slowly), and can cook as long as you are happy to eat chilli!

Ursula hope the pain goes down quickly.
DrP good for you, hope you can get through the next 3 weeks without worrying too much! X

HesMyLobster · 25/07/2018 17:43

3 weeks? Is that all it is now?! Shock

UrsulaPandress · 25/07/2018 18:03

Noooooo

chocolateworshipper · 25/07/2018 18:24

I have good news!!!!

DD has been offered a full time job which she is accepting!!! Grin Grin Grin Grin

She's kept up her track record of every single interview she's been to, resulting in a job offer!!!!

UrsulaPandress · 25/07/2018 18:27

Wit woo! Well done your DD. That amazing.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/07/2018 18:34

Brilliant news Chocolate!! So pleased for her and you! She has done fantastically with her interviews. You must be so proud that she kept going until she found what she wanted.

TheThirdOfHerName · 25/07/2018 19:17

Yay! Congratulations to your DD chocolateworshipper

Knittinganewme · 25/07/2018 21:24

Congratulations Chocolate, she's done really well

chocolateworshipper · 25/07/2018 21:28

Thank you all Smile

Downeyhouse · 25/07/2018 21:29

That’s one excellent track record chocolate.
Sounds like your ds has her head screwed on.

Congratulations to her.

PandaG · 25/07/2018 23:32

Well done chocolate's dd! Fantastic! WineFlowers

HesMyLobster · 26/07/2018 03:22

Brilliant news Chocolate, huge congratulations to your DD, properly chuffed for her, and you! Smile

GnomeDePlume · 26/07/2018 06:13

Well done to chocolate's DD

3 weeks to go now. Still 3 weeks to go.

I can see the stress and the heat is getting to DD2 and her friends. A group which has been together for years is starting to fracture a bit with silly fights over nothing.

Downeyhouse · 26/07/2018 14:37

Just realized I will be in the USA on A level results day. Ds got his results in July
So we do not need to be around.

Was quite pleased when realized that I will be awake at 4am with jet lag (first day) and so will be able to read all your news in real time as it comes in.

It will be quite an emotional roller coaster of a day on here I suspect Smile
