They've left college, now we are trying not to think about a certain date.

Just reread through some posts I have missed. Good luck this evening marmite

NoHaudinMaWheest · 13/08/2018 13:08

Congratulations to your dd kitten.
And good luck marmite.

Bakeandyarn · 13/08/2018 13:10

Next is also good for 6th form office wear, DS and his girlfriend both bought from there. It’s all easy to wash and not too expensive, I found it did get a bit of a pounding from carrying heavy bags on shoulders and resting elbows on desks!

Janus · 13/08/2018 13:10

Lonicera, if it helps dd did her work experience at Bournemouth general if anywhere near you? I know Southampton do it too and Dorchester. It may be worth asking also if they would do a 3 day work experience and you could do a ‘mini break’?! We looked at London, Cardiff, Exeter and Portsmouth and she got offers from all, I really think that was due to that work experience.

lashingsofgingerbeer · 13/08/2018 13:18

Kitten well done to your DD - freedom for her & you too! Time to pull in a few favours now Wink

Marmite best of luck with your scan later on.

Lonicera yes the Geography course is one subject that springs to mind - let's hope the Benchmark reflects that come Thursday! The ST saying boys results now higher as coursework & modules have been scrapped & new system more suited towards their style of learning.

I'm impressed with all the hive of activity on here with skips & decorating - I can just about manage to absorb work & to-do lists here this week Confused

HesMyLobster · 13/08/2018 13:42

Yay! Congratulations Little Kitten!!

I'm awaiting the return of DDs. They are about an hour away now (took them over 3 hours to get out of Cornwall Confused) and are both apparently smelly, tired, aching and in need of a roast dinner!
Both boyfriends joining us for dinner too (first time for DD1's - he's been here a few times but not yet for a proper sit down dinner with us all)
So that's my afternoon/evening taken care of.
Now just 2 more days to fill!

HesMyLobster · 13/08/2018 13:43

Marmite, sorry I missed your post. Hope it goes well, will be thinking of you Thanks

LoniceraJaponica · 13/08/2018 13:43

Thank you Janus we are in South Yorkshire. When DD tried to get medical experience lasy year when applying for medicine she couldn't get any at all. It didn't help that she is one of the youngest in her year, and only turned 18 three weeks ago..

Knittinganewme · 13/08/2018 14:15

Kitten congratulations on the driving test result. After a bit of looking about I added DS to my policy which very helpfully runs out the week term starts. For the amount of driving he is doing it would have been cheaper to have had one of the stand alone policies where he could book a day's cover as and when he needed it. There are insurance options in the booklet that they gave her when she passed.

Marmite best of luck, you know we are all behind you.

Hobbit I was particularly impressed with the crocodiles, everything else seemed totally reasonable (including the secret passage) but the crocodiles were special.

I have skip envy, there was one on my drive when I went away for two days and I had plans to fill it after they'd finished dumping the bathroom in it. When I came back it was gone.

I am taking my MIL shopping this afternoon because tomorrow I am planning to be totally irresponsible and play World of Warcraft all day. I may seize the moment and play all the way through to Thursday (apart from laundry, meals, gym and all the other chores that don't stop)

I would like to announce that the bathroom cabinet has not fallen apart yet. I keep going in and looking at it.

PandaG · 13/08/2018 14:34

Well done mini kitten! All the best marmite, will be thinking of you.

Knitting - well done on the flat pack. Xx

DS gone out for a long walk with a couple of mates today. One has an offer from the same college, hoping come Thursday they will know they will be seeing more of each other!

Hoveringhobbit · 13/08/2018 14:35

Knitting The crocodiles were in my lounge (which was a small lake) preventing us from reaching the house phone to call the school to tell them about the town-wide internet failure. Obviously, being a dream, neither of us used our mobiles.

I can't wait for tonight's instalment....

marmiteloversunite · 13/08/2018 14:44

Loving these dreams. Very entertaining!Grin

Bakeandyarn · 13/08/2018 14:52

We’ve just had a Conversation, along the lines of what’s the plan for results day? DS said “School opens at 8am, I’m assuming you’ll want to go then” (meaning me!). I told him firmly that it’s completely his call, I will fall in with whatever he wants to do. We also very briefly discussed what might happen with Track, emails from universities, what happens if Track doesn’t show anything etc. It was a very short conversation, I’m done with waiting now...

offtofeedthesheep · 13/08/2018 15:35

Hi, I have been lurking on here but thought it was time to join in!

My nerves are shot but DD has sensibly booked a holiday this week so is away until Wed night, so I am just trying to gather info ready for results day.

I have tried to discuss 'plan B' but DD says that is being negative and has refused to engage! I have had a quick look at the cearing list posted on here and DDs course is on the list so that is positive I think!

HardwickWhite · 13/08/2018 15:36

Congratulations to Little Kitten, and best wishes for this evening Marmite.

DD will not engage in any sort of conversation about Thursday at all. I'm wondering if I should put together my own flow chart/list to remind me what needs to happen.

Her firm have been terrible with communication (at one point suggesting it was because we were with a small supplier for email (Apple!) or an unusual broadband supplier (Virgin!) that DD had not received the emails they claimed to have sent. I'm hoping that when it comes down to it, it will all be automated processes and she'll know before she goes to school for her results.

Hardly any sleep last night. I almost got up for a cup of tea - if I'd thought anyone else would be about too, I'd have joined you!

Banquosghost · 13/08/2018 15:46

Is it the universities themselves that update Track on Thursday, or is it UCAS? I've read that they don't al necessarily get updated at 08.00 and wonder what the reasons might be?

TheThirdOfHerName · 13/08/2018 15:55

The universities have already decided which places to confirm (which is why clearing lists are available) and I imagine they have to update UCAS by Wednesday. DS1 is expecting Track to be updated by 8am on Thursday - not sure a delay would go down well.

TheThirdOfHerName · 13/08/2018 15:57

DS1's school plan to send results out by email at 8am.
DS1 has forgotten/lost his school email login (those of you who have followed these threads for a while will not be surprised by this) so will have to go into school in person at 9am.

MsAwesomeDragon · 13/08/2018 16:05

DD will be at school at 8:30 am on Thursday as that's when they open. I will be giving her a lift but I'm not allowed in with her.

We are currently not speaking because I looked into her bedroom, where the bed is supposed to be going tomorrow, and there is no floor space at all. Not even a small footpath to where the bed needs to be. I've suggested that she can put the entire bedroom in the skip. That didn't go down well but she is now stomping about up there putting things in bin bags. My work is done. The skip is half full already, and I've barely put any of my stuff in there.

HesMyLobster · 13/08/2018 16:10

DDs are home! So relieved! It took over 8 hours (compared to just over 4 to get there!)

Very proud of DD driving all that way with apparently not a single problem.
She was sensible and took a couple of rest breaks.
Think she'll be asleep pretty much as soon as we've fed her! Perhaps right up until Thursday - now that would be a way to beat the results day anxiety!

Knittinganewme · 13/08/2018 16:41

College open at 6am with the results. The clearing line at one of the local unis opens at 6.20. I doubt we'll be up and off that early well I'll be up but DS needs a winch in the mornings.

madnskint · 13/08/2018 17:29

LoniceraJaponica most Radiography departments will happily except work experience students for a few days (as long as they are over 17.6 yrs). If your DD is keen- she should look at each Hospitals website and then either follow the work experience instructions, or call the imaging/x-ray department and ask to speak with the Superintendent in charge. It's a great time to become a Radiographer as there is an international shortage and prospects for work/promotion/development are good.

madnskint · 13/08/2018 17:30

plus radiography will be in clearing..

LoniceraJaponica · 13/08/2018 17:39

Thank you for the radiography replies. I will pass the advice on to DD. She currently has her head in the sand about university as she just doesn't feel at all ready for the next stage in her life.

BitOutOfPractice · 13/08/2018 17:42

Oh look! I've found my people!

Just had a tense conversation with dd about what time she wants to go to collect results. She says she "doesn't care". She does.
