They've left college, now we are trying not to think about a certain date.

Leaving at 4am turned out to be a good call, they were there by 9am and managed to get a good spot and tent pitched by lunchtime.
Phew! Smile
Now just the general worry about festival shenanigans to keep me occupied until the drive back in Monday!

Bad luck to your DD Gnome, it is horrible for them. Hopefully she can get another one booked asap.

Those ikea boxes sound interesting Hardwick, thankyou for the heads up. I was hoping to get away with shopping at supermarkets etc but DD is insisting she needs the full ikea experience! Hmm

Kitten for an LBD I would recommend ASOS - just type it into the search box and there will be hundreds.
DD got a nice one from Miss Selfridge at Christmas, but I suppose like a lot of shops they would be seasonal.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/08/2018 13:32

Excellent! We will have a look at ASOS and Urban Outfitters. Thanks :)

We've avoided Ikea as dd wants everything to be different from others she's sharing with in case of muddles. It does sound really handy though. Halls in a Box Grin

I am sorry about the test Gnome. Every day as we approach the driving lesson time an air of gloomy despondency descends on the house.

If she finds something she likes let me know - DD could already have it in her wardrobe!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/08/2018 14:05

oh cool! I will do :) Thanks!

I'm feeling in need of gin as opposed to tea & cakes! I'm alternating between stressed and ostrich. DS however is so laid back he is horizontal (usually on his bed with iPad). Last lesson before pre-test lesson today, and guess what? Yup, he's chilled!
Adding to my stress is starting to figure out DD post 16 plans (her plans differ wildly to my preference) and I don't even know when things have to be applied for by! Also coming to end of life for DDog and trying to find suitable time :(

marmiteloversunite · 08/08/2018 15:04

Bought some stuff for DD's "tool box"
Scissors
Parcel tape
Silver multi tape
Super glue
Alan key set
Multi screwdriver
WD40
Door stops
Key rings
String
Tape measure

Anything I am missing??

Hoveringhobbit · 08/08/2018 15:50

flatmouse sorry to hear about DDog Gin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/08/2018 15:52

Looking good marmite. How about some of those jewellers screwdrivers that you get in christmas crackers

marmiteloversunite stubby hammer? pliers?

MarchingFrogs · 08/08/2018 16:19

If they didn't meet their offer then the best person to help them with that is someone who deals with it every year, knows exactly what is happening with clearing and is on their sixth student that morning. College will be staffed and ready, as they are every year.

But the Director of the Good Schools Guide has spoken, and who are you to disobey?Shock

Has she taken over from Anthony Seldon as the font of all wisdom, education-wise?

HardwickWhite · 08/08/2018 16:20

So sorry to hear that flatmouse. There is never a good time, but never good to extend beyond reason. You’ll know when it shouldn’t continue.

I want to buy DD lots of “stuff” for going away. However wherever she goes her room will be small and storage limited, so I am going to be restrained. I realise that it would be displacement activity too. When I doubt shop can be useful, but can lead to piles of unnecessary junk in my case.

Knittinganewme · 08/08/2018 16:21

Buy the one you love a Leatherman for Christmas (other multitools are available)

flatmouse · 08/08/2018 17:02

marmite how about pins for notice board? And magnet letters for fridge 😉

flatmouse · 08/08/2018 17:03

Not really toolbox items I realise!

I am sorry to read about your dog flatmouse.

DD2 & DDog are boon companions. DD2 says she will phone to speak to the dog. She may consent to talk to us once she has talked to the dog.

flatmouse · 08/08/2018 20:56

Thanks all re DDog. At moment I'm removed in head about it, being very rational and trying to put DDog first. Obviously when time comes I'll be in bits. He was ds study buddy for GCSEs and a levels!

Downeyhouse · 08/08/2018 21:06

Letting pets go is tough and seems extra poignant at the time you are already getting ready to let you dc go too.

Good luck for the coming days flatmouse.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Nettleskeins · 08/08/2018 22:07

we are back, and house and ds are fine.
But major rows now about fortnite between ds2 who doesn't play it and hates the sound of his brother talking whilst playing it and ds1.

Ds1 had done the washing up but managed to leave the chain on the door so that when we returned we couldn't get in AngryShock I seem to have spent a lot of time dealing with angry people today.

London is a very balmy temperature compared to Germany though...we've all calmed down now..Ds2 read me an essay on the House of Lords which was quite respectable and even, dare I say, grammatical.

I threatened ds with no uni if he didn't turn off Fortnite. It has got as bad as that. Luckily he believed me.

Kew tomorrow. FIL wanted to know about the waterlilies.

UrsulaPandress · 08/08/2018 23:12

It's exhausting isn't it.

We have a dressage competition tomorrow evening. I was hoping not to go as a friend was going but she has baled so now it will be me dd and DH and we do not communicate well in stressful circumstances.

Sigh.

HesMyLobster · 08/08/2018 23:15

Don't worry Ursula - your crazy horse has a whole day to do himself some kind of injury yet! Grin
