Carrying on from previous thread

I'm so rubbish with thread titles. Anyway...

This time last year there was lots of chat about tests/exams/mocks at this point. Are there fewer of them, or is everyone more chilled about them?

Well done to your DS Knitting.

Always great to hear positive news.

TheSecondOfHerName · 16/11/2017 15:19

Knitting I'm glad you've had some good news

inchyrablue · 16/11/2017 15:20

knitting that is brilliant news! I hope he gets it in writing soon.

doistayordoigo · 16/11/2017 17:07

Congratulations knitting for you and your DS, glad it went well

HesMyLobster · 16/11/2017 17:15

Congratulations to your DS Knitting, that’s wonderful news and I’m so glad for you both Flowers

MsAwesomeDragon · 16/11/2017 21:02

That's fantastic knitting. I'm really pleased you've got some good news.

Dd got an offer from Durham today :) it's a grade lower than she was expecting (due in part to our postcode I believe, although she doesn't have any other indicators for a contextual offer), which is good.

Littledrummergirl · 16/11/2017 21:05

Oh knitting, that's bloody brilliant. I'm so pleased for you all. You must be so proud of him. Grin
I hope everything else sorts itself out soon.

HesMyLobster · 16/11/2017 21:07

Congratulations to your DD MrsAD!
Which subject is that for?
DD was told (by older friends etc) not to expect anything from Durham until way after Christmas, so this is doubly exciting information to me! Grin
I think she’d feel a whole lot less anxious about the Oxford thing if she was already holding a lovely Durham offer!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/11/2017 22:02

I am so pleased for you and your ds knitting. It sounds like an amazing opportunity.

That’s really good MrsAD :) nice to have a lower offer.

dd has a cambridge interview. In just over two weeks. A mix of hooray and argh.

Congratulations to knitting and MrsAD.

DD thinks her firm might be going in on Monday.

HesMyLobster · 16/11/2017 22:23

Oh Kitten that’s fantastic!!
Huge congratulations to your DD - chuffed to bits for her, and you!
How flipping exciting!!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/11/2017 22:24

I think in terms of interview, it’s more like, thank goodness. Scary to come.

She got there Ursula :) it is a wibbly moment isn’t it!

So much good news!

MsAD that's awesome.

Kitten that's brilliant.

Knitting, that is absolutely fantastic

I think DD may not apply

TheDrsDocMartens · 17/11/2017 05:18

Lots of good news! Congrats everyone!

HesMyLobster · 17/11/2017 06:58

Raspberry is that just for this year or not at all? Does she know what she wants to do?

Icouldbeknitting · 17/11/2017 07:08

Congratulations MsAD and Kitten. Another two weeks of stress then Kitten?

Raspberry is it a wobble because it's all started getting real or is it a choice of an alternative path? (or is it neither of these but you wishing she'd get a move on?)

MsAwesomeDragon · 17/11/2017 07:14

kitten that's fantastic!! Will school help with interview practice?

Lobster it's for computing science. She applied for both the MSc and the BSc and has had offers for both. The MSc offer is either AAA or A*AB which she thinks is achievable.

Raspberry why do you think she won't apply? Is she having a wobble about what she wants to do?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/11/2017 07:51

Yes knitting, then they don’t find out til mid january. waaah!!!! I’m hoping we can squeeze in some forget about it all time.

i won’t ask you another question raspberry, but I am interested. I hope your dd is ok.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/11/2017 07:54

oops Mrs AD, yes, they will help. They’ve had a general session and she’s going to get a mock interview.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 17/11/2017 12:01

kitten, Mrs Dragon and knitting really good news all round.

catslife · 17/11/2017 14:59

knitting that sounds great news. Hope your receive the written confirmation soon.
Kitten that's good news too and good to hear that the school are helping with preparation.
It's an achievement to get as far as an interview in this process and it does confirm that it was worth applying. It's just about managing the extra stress caused now.
raspberry it's up to your dd to decide - but guess it depends on what is more important to her the course content or the university.

MsAwesomeDragon · 17/11/2017 17:52

Dd has had another offer today. This one is unconditional if she puts it as her firm choice. Plus some money for grades above the published offer. So she thinks that will be her firm choice (purely based on the finances), with no real need for an insurance place as her firm choice is unconditional. All of this takes the pressure off massively, and will seriously reduce the stress levels in our house.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/11/2017 17:59

wow! That’s amazing MrsAD, what a happy position to be in!

OP posts:
lashingsofgingerbeer · 17/11/2017 18:16

Great news on the offers MrsAD, Knitting, Doistay & the Cambridge interview Kitten. Hope the apprenticeship applications aren't too stressful Catslife & Chocolate!

DD now has all 5 offers in & booked 2 Offer Holder Days & waiting for dates to be released on another favourite OHD, so she can look at her top choices again close together. For now, the stress is off us for a while, but I'm under no illusion of what's ahead! I agree, I think Parents Evening this term is pretty irrelevant to us now & DD & I are giving ourselves a little cheer as the school have been pretty poor with regards to most of the UCAS procedure!

Good luck to all those DC waiting to hear & those yet to do PS & applications. Now for a glass of wine & a bit of choccy Grin

MsAwesomeDragon · 17/11/2017 18:17

It's an amazing position to be in. She's already working out how much she might get if she gets her predicted grades.
