Carrying on from previous thread

I'm so rubbish with thread titles. Anyway...

This time last year there was lots of chat about tests/exams/mocks at this point. Are there fewer of them, or is everyone more chilled about them?

Ooooh, brand new shiny thread

Thanks kitten

Are we all here? Who wants to take the register?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/11/2017 21:02

There’s a few missing I think. Haven’t seen Fantasy for ages :(

I'm here but all my careful planning has gone out of the window and I don't know whether we're coming or going (nope, don't want to talk about it). I'm hoping we can limp along to the end of the month, write November off altogether and start afresh with December.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/11/2017 21:16

that’s poo knitting, I hope you can muddle along ok.

Flowers knitting. I hope things improve soon.

UrsulaPandress · 06/11/2017 22:27

I was wondering about Fantasy and her DD.

HesMyLobster · 06/11/2017 22:34

I’ve been thinking about Fantasy and her DD too. I almost thought I’d bumped into her on another thread with a name change a little while ago but never found out for sure.

Knitting I hope whatever’s gone wrong it’s fixable, and that things improve soon. Flowers

DD has two interviews this week. One for her second favourite, plus one for a possible unconditional (though I doubt she’ll firm it so relatively pointless).

School have arranged mock interviews for the oxbridge hopefuls, for next week. I have two issues with that. One is relatively small, in that they are asking for a £30 contribution. The other that they won’t know if they even have an interview by then! I’m worried that will make it even harder for DD if she doesn’t make the interview stage.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/11/2017 07:56

well done for finding us again shiney :)

I don’t like this half term at all, with all its entrance tests and interviews. I persuaded dd to go off to bed at 9 last night as she looked so pale and tired and had been complaining of a headache. She’s a bit brighter this morning.

I lost you all! Just checking in to the new thread and will catch up later.

Dd sent her UCAS form on Friday, and got her first offer yesterday :) It's her last choice, and still a fairly high offer, but she's thrilled to have at least one offer in the bag.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/11/2017 07:58

£30 is a lot! Is it subject specialist? Some subjects interview very differently from others, maths, they don’t ask anything personal at all, it’s literally - here are some very hard problems, do them while two people stare at you and make hopefully encouraging comments.

that’s ace MrsAD, I’m glad you found us again. Well done to your dd :)

Hi everyone! Well done to all those getting offers and interviews. DS's UCAS form is with school so will hopefully be submitted soon - let the waiting begin.

Hope things improve knitting.

inchyrablue · 07/11/2017 08:43

According to DD this morning the careers dept have people lined up to do specialist interviews (her interview should she get one will be subject oriented too). This one they have offered is (possibly!) in addition. I’ve sent her off to chat to the head of Year about it today.

DH and I figure she’ll have lots of interviews in the coming years and a bit of decent practice wouldn’t do any harm. We shalln’t make her do it though. We’re honestly not sure how much she wants to go there, so it’s hard to be sure we are supporting but not directing her. She is awful for telling us what she thinks we think she should do, rather than what she actually wants. Hmm

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/11/2017 10:42

lol inchy, it turns into an awful game of guessing and discernment doesn’t it. Drives me bonkers, just say what you mean and be done with it.

Brilliant DocMarten, that must really take the pressure off :)

Glad you found us again Shiny and Mrs A D, congratulations to your DDs on the offers, brilliant news!

Good Luck for the interviews this week Inchy, let us know how they go.

DD has a provisional mock interview with the Head teacher scheduled for the week before interviews week, which she can confirm if and when she gets an invitation to interview.

She’s another one who has been trying on possible outfits (just in case) and declaring that nothing is right. I can see a shopping trip happening in the near future Confused

Its all very complicated right now with all the ifs and maybes and possibles! I hate the waiting and wondering, would rather just know if there’s going to be an interview or not, one way or the other!

Hope your DD is feeling better today Kitten.

HesMyLobster · 07/11/2017 16:51

Oh Doc - a first choice offer, how wonderful! And reduced grades too - bonus!

TheDrsDocMartens · 07/11/2017 18:34

Big relief!
No interviews either which is a bonus Grin

However I have a MA interview tomorrow. Confused

inchyrablue · 07/11/2017 18:50

Good luck yourself then TheDrs!

HesMyLobster · 07/11/2017 18:58

Ooh Good Luck to you then Doc! 🍀

MsAwesomeDragon · 07/11/2017 20:15

Good luck TheDrs! How exciting.

Dd failed her driving test today. She's fairly relaxed about it, told me this morning that she was treating it as a mock and fully expected to do another couple before she passes.
