Carrying on from previous thread

I'm so rubbish with thread titles. Anyway...

This time last year there was lots of chat about tests/exams/mocks at this point. Are there fewer of them, or is everyone more chilled about them?

Good luck with the interview TheDrs, I'm sure it will all be fine.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/11/2017 22:14

crikey DocMarten, good luck! Flowers let us know how you you get on!

Thanks Lobster, yes, she def seemed better. TMUA exam tomorrow. She has to be up super early cos of the stupid train strikes. It’s not desperately important but could get her a lower offer for Warwick if she does well enough on it. I’ve ushered her to bed early again but dh is crashing around like an elephant.

I hate the wondering and uncertainty too. Not just from the long term point of view, but short term planning too, I keep going over and over dates in my head. Is it too late to say I’m not cut out for this parenting lark?

Good for your dd MrsAD she can join the rest of our kids on the retake bench Grin

Good Luck to your DD Kitten (I had to google TMUA!) hope she’s feeling better for it and that the trains don’t cause any unnecessary chaos or stress.

Mrs AD as I keep reminding DD all the best drivers fail their first test! Wink

inchyrablue · 07/11/2017 23:09

DD has finally agreed to driving lessons. I can’t wait to join the rest of you on the “think of it as a mock” list. Grin

lashingsofgingerbeer · 08/11/2017 00:31

A lot has been happening on here lately! Gosh, best of luck to all of your DC going through interviews and driving tests - I can imagine the stress levels!

Well after DD failed her driving test too and was in the doldrums, she has cheered up considerably as she's received four out of five offers in the last week. We've been amazed at the speed of it all to be honest! Shock

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/11/2017 06:59

that’s great lashings! well done to your dd :)

it’s an emotional rollercoaster this year isn’t it! (I guess, wait til next year..l Confused

I don't understand why DD's school is sending off all the non early entry applications after Christmas. I will just count it a bonus if DD gets an interview even if she gets no offers. Her lack of work experience will really count against her (she wants to do medicine).

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/11/2017 09:57

That's odd Lonicera, lots of students will just want to get it over and done with.

OP posts:
raspberryrippleicecream · 08/11/2017 12:30

You would think so OYBBK. DD still hasn't progressed beyond 1 draft paragraph she wants someone to see at school.

Impressed with all these positive DC and their driving tests

MsAwesomeDragon · 08/11/2017 17:39

That is odd Lonicera. We send ours off as soon as they are complete. I believe the internal deadline for all references by form tutors is the end of November sometime, but the tutors prioritise those who are motivated to get it done early.

Icouldbeknitting · 08/11/2017 18:19

On a positive note it looks like DS will be able to attend his interview next week. I'm really pleased about this because if he goes through with it he could be looking at an offer before Christmas. The alternative is to postpone the interview until February and then it would overlap with UCAS. As it stands he should find out whether he has an offer for his weird thing before the UCAS deadline so he shouldn't need to apply through both routes (all his choices interview so it's a significant time commitment).

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/11/2017 18:24

that would be really good knitting, I hope it works out well.

OP posts:
HesMyLobster · 08/11/2017 22:59

Oh that does sound like good news! Fingers crossed for him Knitting!

Littledrummergirl · 09/11/2017 20:29

Yay, lots of good news. Ds1 is still waiting to hear anything from anyone...
Fingers are crossed we hear something (good) soon.

LadyMacnet · 09/11/2017 21:27

We have a UCAS frenzy at my school in October. Just 25 applications left to send now, out of a total of 127 applicants. In the end though universities have to look at all applications received by 15th Jan. In my experience students who send their appolications later still don’t have to wait any longer for offers.

DS had an interview at Leeds yesterday, and offer came through today. He really liked it there. If Cambs and Imperial come to nothing it will be Leeds Firm and Bristol Insurance. He’s not even close to taking his driving test though!

MsAwesomeDragon · 09/11/2017 23:19

Dd has had another offer today. Liverpool this time which has slightly lower grades than the others, so she may consider it as her insurance place, but it's not one of her 2 favourites.

I hope the interview goes well for him knitting. It would be fantastic to have an offer before Christmas.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/11/2017 08:59

I was just wondering if we have any parents of non university applying dc left on the thread? I’d love to hear how they are getting on too. I think it might be quite a lonely road for some of them as so many assume uni is the next step.

Unless DS1 gets a move on, he will end up in this category by default.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/11/2017 09:44

lol! you poor thing TheSecond.

OP posts:
LoniceraJaponica · 10/11/2017 10:24

While DD has applied I think her application will be a two year process, or going through clearing.

Me! DD and a lot of her friends are looking at higher level apprenticeships rather than uni

UrsulaPandress · 10/11/2017 12:43

We really hoped DD would go down the engineering route but her GCSE tutor put her off completely.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/11/2017 12:53

oh good Chocolate :) Those apprenticeships can be bloody brilliant. What kind of timescales are required for applying them? Do they have to apply to each one separately?

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/11/2017 12:54

that’s weird Ursula. The TIO thing I mean.

OP posts:
inchyrablue · 10/11/2017 13:23

Ursual I think you can change that within your account.
