Was it nice? Why did you choose it? (the venue and the food)

Could you recreate it at home?

Would you?

cyanarasamba · 20/10/2009 21:06

OMG I was such a pig I had fish and chips, then pizza then curry and rice, then yorkshire pud and vegetables followed by 2 portions of carror cake. All small portions mind. It was in one of those help yourself, all types of cuisine buffets.

Chicken & wild mushroom risotto at Ask in Ashby de la Zouch

Could probably do it home but risotto is a PIA to do (all that stock absorbing etc!!)

meltedmarsbars · 20/10/2009 21:32

We had calamari

tiger prawns in tomato sauce with fresh pasta

Chocolate Melts

at Zizzi

with our 2 boys

DH was so shocked at the price that he swore he would recreate it for us at home for a quarter of the price

He and ds1 cooked for us last weekend and it was FAB! and ds was sooooo proud.

Hulababy · 20/10/2009 21:35

Last time was on Sunday - in a service station on the way home from BIL/SIL's house. Chose it as it was convenient and not much choice on the M1!

Before that was Saturday night when we went to some Mexican chain restaurant. Went with DH and 7y DD, and BIL/SIL and 3y niece. Was nice. BIL chose it as local to them. I had veggie fajitas, DD and DH had chicken fajotas - all very nice.

And yes, we eat fajitas at home.

Squishabelle · 20/10/2009 21:41

Melted - I was fine - but perhaps shouldnt have had the second carrot cake. I only got very small portions of everything. You just help yourself to as much as you want. But I like to try everything! It was Taybarns by the way.

MitchyInge · 20/10/2009 21:47

pub next door to my house - I had venison sausages and mash and veg, yummers

Babur a fab Indian restuarant in SE London - had chicken byriani (?) and it was bloody gorgeous - can;t wait to go back!

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 20/10/2009 21:54

cant remember, it was that long ago

NeedaNewName · 20/10/2009 21:54

Oh we went there for my dads birthday as we knew he'd like it and its a bit special - not your usual Indian resturant.

MitchyInge · 20/10/2009 21:54

I am not going to recreate at home what I can just pop next door for, by the time I've peeled the potatoes and prepared the other veg and had a go at making proper gravy it would take AGES. Am convinced it is cheaper, if you factor your time in, to eat out. Plus it is v important to support local pub innit.

Ivykaty44 · 20/10/2009 21:55

The White Hart at Ufton, near Southam, just off the fosse

It was a roast dinner on a sunday and it was delish - home made yorkshires and home made gravy with roast lamb three tender slices and then to follow granny apple carmel, with ice cream yummy yummy all for under 8 quid!

Izumis

Brentwood Essex

Eat as much as you can shove down your gullet

1st small bowl, starters, crab claws etc
2nd plate, mains, curry, sweet and sour chicken
3rd plate duck and pancakes
4th struggled with noodles and rice.

finito

plates were the size of side plates though not dinner plates

(thats my get out clause)
