We get lots of good Irish cheeses in our local cheese shop, Carm. V. good soft cheeses, I think, and some very good salty seaweedy ones.

I have to say I was utterly surprised that so many have chosen England. I agree there is some good British cheeses however they are no where near the French.. Personally i don't think I could live without the prospect of tasting a delicious Vacherin again..

or Tomme De Savoie

Fourme D'ambert
Pave D'auphionoir (forgot how to spell that one)
Carre de lest
and don't even get me started on their many goats cheeses yummmmmmmmm

I like Stilton but imp there are plenty of better blue cheeses (and I often choose Shropshire blue over a Stilton if I am choosing british cheeses) and soft cheeses I really dont think the british does all that well at least not to the standard of some French cheeses. and frankly Somerset brie or Irish brie to me is a contradiction in terms (brie is french lol) and yes Ive tasted them and yes some are decent but to me they do not get near a good French brie..

Many years ago BC (before children) I worked for Jeroboams (one of the best cheese shops in London - though I believe they now have one in Bath as well) so I had lots of experiences with cheeses..

Italy

Gorgonzola and parmesan. I can live without all other cheeses but those.

France, but then I would long for Wensleydale.

Is Ledamer Duch? - cos that is soooo yummy is a sandwhich, and I eat it more than any other cheese.

I went to a fabulous welsh cheese farm a couple of years ago. It was by far the best thing about a wert week in Wales.
