Food or otherwise, going on a 3 month economy drive but only want to buy things that are edible, good value.

I agree with Aitch.

On a direct price comparison-Lidl (other than special offers) are no cheaper than say Tesco or Asda IME>

Lots of people seem to liek the fruit juice-why?-Fruit juice is fruoit juice isn't it?

Aitch · 15/01/2008 13:50

aaah, but i think that the cold meats (some of them) are better quality than you'd get in asda etc. the things i buy there i think are cheaper plus there's some considerable pleasure to be had in subverting the supermarket oligopoly in this country.
tomato juice, a big carton, is 69p in lidl and really delicious. much more expensive elsewhere, certainly locally.

Most of it is cheaper than in the big supermarkets, whoosh - and the quality of most (except the weird cereals) is excellent.

Produce maybe is not up to Sainsburys standards & the meat is a bit ropey.

And in a thing I read at the weekend about sustainable fish fingers (iyswim ) Lidl's were one of only 3 which were acceptable according to - er - somebody-or-other-who-knows.
