Dinner party on Sunday. Making bouillabaisse which is an absolute faff and just cannot be bothered to spend more than 5 minutes on dessert.

Apart from buying something premade what can I go with?

Pavlova?

Sherrystrull · 12/10/2021 21:53

Treacle tart
Prebaked pastry case
Chuck on a load of oats and a load of golden syrup.
Bake
Serve with vanilla ice cream and raspberries

Pavlova, make the night before and leave to cool in oven overnight, then just whip cream and add fruit just before serving.

And if it fails - Eaton mess!

coodawoodashooda · 12/10/2021 21:53

I saw an article about pavlovaboards where the guest builds their own pavlova.

Bobbybobbins · 12/10/2021 21:53

Prosecco jelly with berries and some whipped cream

coodawoodashooda · 12/10/2021 21:53

Id do lemon posset the day before.

TumtumTree · 12/10/2021 21:54

Tiramisu

Itstheweekendyasssss · 12/10/2021 21:55

Fresh fruit prepped and mixed with some booze and juice, layer of whipped cream on top with generous layer of Demerara sugar, blowtorch or grill the sugar until bubbling then leave to cool into crunchy crust. Can do individual or whole shallow dish. Could buy frozen fruit and heat with some sugar and add booze of choice once cooled. Omit booze if desired. Or just buy some macaron and nice fudge and have those w coffee?

Pretend you're going fashionably retro... butterscotch angel delight decorated with chocolate buttons!

Snowdropsandbluebells · 12/10/2021 21:56

Banofee is quick but you know I would go for a luxury ice cream and berries

Lollypop701 · 12/10/2021 21:56

I second tiramisu… whip cream day before. Good food do ok recipe

pisspants · 12/10/2021 21:56

450g strawberries

240ml whipping or double cream

225 g quark or fromage frais

50g caster sugar

Wash strawbs; put half in a bowl and crush with a fork. Whip cream till thick, then add the quark/ from frais and sugar. Mix in crushed strawbs and stir. Slice rest of strawbsand mix into the strawb cream.

Agree with lemon posset. Serve in wine or brandy glasses with a shortbread or other crunchy biscuit on the side

Loopy9 · 12/10/2021 21:56

I’d second lemon posset

RoseAndGeranium · 12/10/2021 21:58

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/feb/11/how-to-make-the-perfect-chocolate-pots

These are super quick to throw together and can be made in advance. You can pretty them up if you want more of a wow factor by setting and serving in pretty glasses. I like to make slightly larger ones and set and serve in tea cups with whipped cream on top and a little wafer on the side. It’s kitsch and I love it.

Lollypop701 · 12/10/2021 21:58

Or Eton mess with pre made meringue

Seafog · 12/10/2021 21:58

Nigella's clementine cake

woodbeez55 · 12/10/2021 21:59

Frozen berries and hot white chocolate sauce which is delicious and so easy. There's a recipe here (we don't put in any rum): www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/iced-berries-hot-chocolate-sauce

@Bobbybobbins I love the sound of your idea. Do you have a link to a recipe please? TIA

Singalongsingsong · 12/10/2021 22:01

Trifle or tiramisu

Bobbybobbins · 12/10/2021 22:02

@woodbeez55

I don't I'm afraid - but bought a berry prosecco jelly dessert from M&S and it was so delicious. Grin

lazylinguist · 12/10/2021 22:03

Snow Queen. Mix a load of sweetenee whipped cream with a slug of brandy and some crumbled bought meringue. Chuck in a ring mould or a loaf tin and freeze. Get it out and allow to soften slightly before putting a load of thawed frozen berries in the centre/over the top.

Limer · 12/10/2021 22:04

Syllabub with crushed amaretti biscuits.

hensintheskirting · 12/10/2021 22:04

My mum used to make Barbados Cream back in the day. Whip double cream, stir in the same amount of Greek yoghurt, a hefty dash of rum, dollop into individual glasses or bowls or whatever the. sprinkle with muscovado sugar and leave it for a moment. After a minute stir lightly to swirl the sugar around. It's really easy and so good

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 12/10/2021 22:06

@coodawoodashooda

Id do lemon posset the day before.

Yep, lemon posset.
