Gusto boxes

Just started the gusto boxes. Would anyone like to swap recipe choices? / hints?

I’m cooking the prawn farfalle today - about to serve it for lunch but baffled the online recipe and physical recipe card don’t match. One says rocket one says pea shoots - I assume that’s a sub but weird that it’s the physical version that’s correct!

Has anyone else made this one? Or have any tips on choosing gusto meals?

@pinkchampagne1 it’s nicer quality produce at MindfulChef I would say - so the salads have been amazing and meat is definitely better. I personally prefer the recipe choices.

BUT will depend on your taste as to whether you will think the meals have more of a wow factor - so it’s always brown rice, totally dairy free so no cheese eg. Very healthy and fresh tasting, but you have to be ok with brown rice, lots of veg and no dairy

They do sound nice. I do occasionally like an unhealthy meal as a treat though!

I am most disappointed with the new Gousto menu once again. The last few weeks choices really haven’t tempted me.

There's lots I like the look of on the news menu actually but we're away that week. I've just paused my subscription and was offered 25% off for a month, in case anyone wants to see if they get the same offer :)

@pinkchampagne1 how did you find the cod? I think we got carried away with the chilli and everything needed more cooking than the recipe card said. However, it was very nice and BIG WIN cos DD13 helped to cooked it and then ate it all!!!!

I think I overcooked the greens and possibly also added a little too much chilli (was pretty spicy) but we really enjoyed it!

We have had a few days off making Gousto meals as eaten out for the last 2 evenings (nephew’s birthday and then a night away to celebrate our anniversary) but plan to make the Spanish chicken tomorrow.

All of it was a weird texture and first time I've had speltotto - really not sure why you'd have that over normal rice or even couscous.

Have still got the sweetcorn and potato cakes to make. Have paused both HF and Gousto for a while, just cos of the cost. Hopefully they'll send me some vouchers and then I can order again!

Tbf I went to tesco to pick up a few items not even for full meals and it was so expensive, that am beginning to think Gousto isn't that bad...or the supermarkets are just becoming more expensive

Had the five spice Chinese pork last night from MindfulChef and it was very good. The noodles were brown rice noodles which we hadn’t had before and even the fussy dds said they were lovely.

Veg better in MindfulChef. I like the recipes better and they are healthier. Not so heavy on the chili as Gousto. The use by dates are much longer which is great

BUT I prefer the recipe cards they give you in Gousto, like the use of dairy (no dairy at all in MindfulChef), like sometimes having bread products eg burger buns, naans whereas I think MindfulChef is gluten free. The biggest difference I would say is price - MindfulChef is about £10 more per box than a Gousto box of 4 meals and you get one less meal!
