Who wants to enter here please. This will be fab. Now we have to find some judges. I think we should put thread in chat and ask someone to judge based on their credentials Obviously they will be only looking at a pic not tasting. We need rules as well??? Good idea or not.

SlightlyMadScientist · 17/06/2007 22:40

That was regarding icing sugar on top BTW.

Right I am off to bed. May the best mother win.

ChippyMinton · 17/06/2007 22:43

Sleep well all you happy bakers I've just made my bed

SlightlyMadScientist · 17/06/2007 22:43

I think there are a lot of things around that wouldn't meat village show standards. But we are not a opncy village show are we...we are a friendly internet chat site...trying to hold a victoria sponge cake competion via the internet .

I think this thread will be one that has to go down in history - I bet you don't get anything like this on NM???

SlightlyMadScientist · 17/06/2007 22:43

Is mine not short listed cos of the pink stuff and candles? It's only a little tiny bit outside of the rules... (dabbing corner of eye delicatly with handmade crocheted hankie)

ChippyMinton · 17/06/2007 22:51

LL

Now calm down ladies or we shan't be allowd back in the marquee after the judging.

And soapbox - who put you in charge (and don't say MrsCake LOL)?

soapbox · 17/06/2007 22:53

SMS - it was a good looking cake - I'll give you that!

However, I have been following the other thread very closely, and the rules are - no creamy stuff!

However, I'm sure the real adjudicator might have a different POV!

JaneMW's cake looks so beautifully risen, that I am concerned that it is a (whispers) shop bought imposter

soapbox · 17/06/2007 22:54

Chippy - there was too much dithering - people waiting for feedback that was not forthcoming.

What could I do...?

soapbox · 17/06/2007 22:55

MommyUpNorth · 17/06/2007 22:56

Thanks ChippyMinton!

I had to go with the 8,8,8,4 as we're a family of 6... the smaller one just wouldn't cut it! Just the standard recipe I suppose... caster sugar, self raising flour & unsalted butter, and the 4 eggs of course. 380 degrees for about 30 minutes or so.

I have the tins with the bottom bit that slides up and out so getting them out wasn't too much trouble.

I did also use the dropping technique which I think was mentioned in the other thread, so maybe that helped as well?

ChippyMinton · 17/06/2007 22:56

Deadline is midnight
Right i'm off to bed so i can be up early to sneak in under the canvas and swap the judge's cards around

Pennies · 17/06/2007 22:58

Can't I even get a mention for the crappest?? Oh plleeeaaassseee.

Grooveisintheheart · 17/06/2007 22:59

pennies, can you get me details of your real village fair please? hehehe.
