aaaargh

I am doing my shop online at goodnessdirect .

now don't get me wrong, dried mango and other actual food and so forth GOOD, its all this parnoia about chemicals that is getting me.

Eat good food cos it TASTES nice, not cos you think that otherwise insidious chemicals will do something bad

oh i desrve a flaming from the lentil weavers, I have broken rank, i am sorry, but aaaargh!

and don't get me started on ecos and their anti-radiation paint...

yellowrose · 18/04/2007 18:08

organic manure is fine with me !

FrannyandZooey · 18/04/2007 20:35

Filly next time you shop at Goodness Direct can I give you a referral code so I will get free Booja Booja truffles pls?

Fillyjonk · 18/04/2007 21:18

oh god yes

FREE booja boojas?

from where do i get this magjickal code?

OP posts:
Fillyjonk · 18/04/2007 21:19

(and yes i will do it for you, naturally)

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 18/04/2007 21:57

you get it on your receipt thingy

oh bother it is probably only valid for someone doing their first order

you have done your order now I presume? Anti-magnetic magic dust and all?

Fillyjonk · 18/04/2007 21:59

feckfeckfeckfeckfeck

I HAVE THROWN IT AWAY

feckfeckfeckfeckfeck

bllx arse

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 18/04/2007 21:59

But you have to convince someone to do their first order with them and use your code

and I don't seem to be very good at that

you will get another code next time you order

Fillyjonk · 18/04/2007 22:04

um, does it have to be a new customer?

we can't just swop and use funny names?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 18/04/2007 22:10

erm

maybe

same address, same cc? I think they may notice

Nightynight · 18/04/2007 22:14

you really want mb or one of the other science teachers to explain! but I will try.
there is a tutorial here
quote from the above website:
"Any electric field that changes over time will produce a magnetic field in the space around it."
As pylons carry alternating current, they therefore have a constantly changing magnetic field around them. I have no idea what the reasearch says, but I personally dont fancy living in a constantly changing magnetic field generated by 10000 volts of AC passing over my head.

If you doubt that such fields can carry energy, there is a discussion of how they do, on the same website here

Fillyjonk · 18/04/2007 22:33

hmm

i don't doubt any of that especially

i just kind of doubt that it matters

we are surrounded by electromagnetic rays, its called light, heat, etc

and there are wires running through our houses. you have to go an awfully long way to get away from electromagnatism

it just seems like a way to sell magnets to me

franny i had a complex idea involving lodgers

OP posts:
Fillyjonk · 18/04/2007 22:33

but thanks for trying, nn

I am a bit of a skeptic

and i feel strongly that science should be for the masses

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 18/04/2007 22:36

LOL @ lodgers

do we have to actually get some? That is going a leetle bit too far for me, personally, even if I do get chocolate at the end

Fillyjonk · 18/04/2007 22:41

well i have lots of lodgers

i have hemulen, and moominmama and oooh, lots

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 18/04/2007 22:47

We once filled out the electoral register thingy with lots of "lodgers"

there was Ingmar Belle and all sorts of people on it

Fillyjonk · 19/04/2007 21:34

well

i have the delivery

am NOT impressed

there is loads of packaging. Absolutely loads. if tescos tried to sell me something in this much packaging i would rip it off at the checout and leave it for them to clean up

they got my order wrong

oh and other things. grr.

OP posts:
Nightynight · 19/04/2007 22:09

we aren't surrounded by such strong electromagnetic fields as you find round a pylon. also, natural light and heat don't change on a regular pattern like the field around a pylon does. also, when you move in a magnetic field you generate electricity.

we are surrounded by pollution as well, doesnt mean I want to live downwind of a rubbish dump!

madamez · 19/04/2007 22:18

Oh FFS THE LOT OF YOU! EVERYTHING is made of chemicals. That includes crystals, grass, organic apples, you, me and toxic waste.

Fillyjonk · 20/04/2007 10:17

well i think light and heat do change regularly and actually, i could be very wrong here but stuff like free radical damage is surely exaberated by them?

but I would accept that we are probably evolved for them not to matter too much.

trouble with the electrcity thing-no evidence its harmful, AFAIK.

have been reading a good book of late, voodoo science. actually cleverly left it on the Tube but...it was good as far as it went.
