aaaargh

I am doing my shop online at goodnessdirect .

now don't get me wrong, dried mango and other actual food and so forth GOOD, its all this parnoia about chemicals that is getting me.

Eat good food cos it TASTES nice, not cos you think that otherwise insidious chemicals will do something bad

oh i desrve a flaming from the lentil weavers, I have broken rank, i am sorry, but aaaargh!

and don't get me started on ecos and their anti-radiation paint...

I ate cake everyday while pregnant! The baby couldn't be healthier!

Fillyjonk · 17/04/2007 17:29

oh god am just having a rant really

its this suspicion of medical stuff then the shoveling any old crap down ones throat because its "alternative" that gets me.

like the idea that "geomagnets" neutralise electromagentic radiation

or ecos anti electromagnetic paint (what does it do, keep out all heat and light?)

also we do usually take too many vitamins, and msot vitamins are mosre effective form a food source

Fillyjonk · 17/04/2007 17:36

Fillyjonk · 17/04/2007 17:39

ah no my mooncup remains sadly unused

4.6 years and counting. that must be a record for a woman with no actual known health problems or anything

FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 17:40

No that is quite an achievement

I am I must admit I felt I had rejoined the ranks of lesser mortals when mine restarted after a year of breastfeeding

hub2dee · 17/04/2007 17:56

It's the pendants with anti electro-magnetism radiation woo woo power that get me. Quantum healing my fat hairy ass.

glitterfairy · 17/04/2007 18:19

StG has a point though and actually there are plenty of randomised controlled drug trials which show that giving a placebo works better than the real thing especially when it comes to depression.

So if the "placebo" is also effective like crystals or some healing then why is everyone so bothered?

Fillyjonk · 17/04/2007 19:34

oh bloody hell quantum stuff

omg yes

anyone in doubt, HERE is what you should ask any crystal peddler:

You: has your product been subjected to rigorous double blind testing?

its surprising how often the answer contains of the following: no/ conspiracy/don't believe in science

OP posts:
Fillyjonk · 17/04/2007 19:35

theres a good explaination for that glitterfairy, it has to do with relaxation and stopping adrenalin and so on

or

studies are inconclusive or some scientists think (insert electromagnetic radition causes childhood leukeimia, mobile phones cause sprouting of second head etc)

when in fact, there are a load of badly designed studies which fail to show no connection and one or two really good, really thorough, large sample size study which shows that it is utter and complete gibberinsh

and then that study is referenaced as "only one study has ever shown..."
