Can't believe I've never tried this before! It's lovely and doesn't taste dairy free (it's the creamy garlic and herb). What vegan foods do you all love Smile

I'm not vegan but I'm vegetarian and DS is dairy/soya intolerant so I'm avoiding those at the moment. Basically vegan + eggs. Any non soy suggestions? Especially cheese as violife is not nice!

Golden syrup is most certainly vegan :) and so cheap!

I'm not vegan (or veggie) but I love, love the Goodlife Picador carrot & parsnip cashew nut burgers. Lovely texture and really nice taste. Winner. In the freezer section at Waitrose (I think they are on Ocado too).

Going to try some vegan pancakes then to have with golden syrup Smile

Me too! Really versatile (good with a roast or on a bun with salad), taste lovely, give a bit of a protein boost - just wish more places would stock them!

The vegusto no moo picant cheese is great - lovely strong parmesan like after taste.

Thanks for that dinky I will keep an eye out. I had jacket potatoe with sheese garlic and herb creamy for dinner and it was brilliant. Just what I've been missing Smile

Avocado is a very mild creamy taste when ripe. I thought I wouldn't like it so didn't eat it for years but it's delicious. Because it is so mild it works well in things like chocolate mousse because it gives a creamy texture without overpowering the taste of the mousse.

Try this.

Mashed avocado on toast with a pinch of cumin salt is also delicious.

So much to say!

Taifun grill sausages, tofu wieners and pizza-pizza tofu from Waitrose. Ah-may-zing.

MAKE YOUR OWN SEITAN. I had to shout that because it is so good and so easy to make. Just buy a bag of gluten. I think we buy it from a place called wholefoodsonline.

Dark chocolate Alpro puddings. Heavenly whether you consume dairy or not.

Fry's chicken / beef strips. Are they began or vegetarian? Bloody lovely.

Booja booja truffles.
Goody good stuff sweets.

I miss Realeat mince so much. Where did that go?

Also loved the Redwood fish pates.

Realeat mince was fantastic, I would have it on its own with mash Blush.
Beechs violet creams are apparently accidently vegan, haven't tried them myself but they are cheap on Amazon

I'd forgotten about Realeat mince. I think the best one now is Fry's mince, but you can't buy it everywhere.

Don't buy cheesecake mixes. They are the easiest thing to make from scratch. It's my go-to fool-proof pudding. I can't make fancy desserts, but these always go down well.

For the base you need a packet of digestive biscuits. That's not so easy since co-op changed their ingredients. I've found cheap brands in corner shops that are accidentally vegan. Crush them into crumbs and mix in with enough melted margarine so that it will hold together when mixed and there aren't any little dry bits. Press that into a greased dish.

For the topping you need a block of plain tofu (soft, silken tofu works better than a hard block), a tub of plain vegan cream cheese and a small carton of soya cream. Chuck it all in a blender with a good dollop of maple syrup and whizz until it's all mixed. Then pour onto the base and chill in the fridge overnight.

That's the basic topping, but then you can change the flavour by adding some more ingredients to the mixture while it's still in the blender. Eg a bar of melted chocolate (just on it's own for a chocolate cheese cake or with a splash of orange juice or with a dollop of rum and a handful of raisins). In the summer, I often add soft fruit eg strawberries and/or raspberries. Chuck a handful in the blender and put some onto for decoration.

Thanks for that cariad I will try that next time. I do love the bbc good food egg free chocolate cake recipe, also peanut butter brownie made with jam to replace the egg Smile

I really like sainsburys frozen vegetarian Mince, which doesn't seem to have anything stopping it being vegan

Report
FishlessCake · 31/01/2017 10:18

Nearest sainsburys (the one in Tenby is like a corner shop) is 1.5 hours away. But tesco mince is dairy free. I really want to try sainsburys cheese though I've heard such good things.
I'm making the hale and hearty cheesecake now so fingers crossed its nice (but not too nice otherwise I may eat the whole thing Wink)

I'm not that impressed with the Tesco mince, is OK with gravy but not as like a bolognese. If you add a bit of water when cooking it (helps to stop it sticking, works better than oil) it turns brown Confused

We don't shop with sainsburys that often, but when we do get an online shop from them I fill the freezer with the mince and then when I'm getting to my last bag or 2 I do another shop with them. I use it for bolognese, chilli, enchiladas, spicy mince tortillas, shepherds pie, mince and onion pasties...

I like to make a vegan quorn, leek and button mushroom pie in white sauce with pastry. It's fantastic cold the next day.
I can vouch for the Beechs creams, dh ordered me some I've got the pineapple creams, coffee creams, violet creams (taste like creamy Parma violets) and rose creams which are amazing. Really cheap on Amazon and no dairy Smile

Ooh I've thought of something else. Lidl 18p noodles (like super noodles) are labelled vegan and are really nice with plenty of salt and pepper Smile

Just pointing out that the Linda McCartney nut roast isn't vegan as there is egg white in it. Loving all the suggestions on here, there is so much accidentally vegan that it's nice when these are shared just in case we miss something.

I've never seen the Linda nutroast but there is a tasty one in Holland and Barrett with tomatoes.
I'm pretty sure pink panther wafers are accidentally. Plus lidl do a big bag of salted pretzels for 99p

@coldlocation the granovita one sounds nice, I will try that next time I nip to Holland and Barrett. The vbites bean pate is too good, it only lasted two days (I must have eaten my own weight home made bread with it).

I was looking for vegan 'cheese' in Sainsburys today - came away empty handed.

It was a mid sized Sainsburys - so was surprised not to find any?

Lovely same here. Read about Sainsbury's introducing a range of vegan cheeses but nothing doing except the one brand (forgotten which) of plastic stuff.
