can we have a thread where we recommend recipes that we often re-visit?

You don't have to go to the trouble of copying and pasting or describing it all, but just recommend the recipe and the book and why it works for you/your family? Everyone else can google the links.

As an example, for me it would be the minestrone from Nigella's How To Eat. I've made it so often now that I don't really need to look at the book, but I love it because it is quirky (no garlic, no tomatoes - both of which I love but this recipe just totally works without either) and one way to get the children to eat dark greens. And also because it is lush and keeps well and can be a lunch for friends, or a proper main course dinner for family.

I want to expand my repertoire of fail-safe day to day stuff like this! Anyone want to contribute?

I love this thread. Favourites here include
www.waitrose.com/content/waitrose/en/home/recipes/recipe_directory/s/slow-and-smoky-porkandbeans.A4.html - this doesn’t actually need any meat, but is also very good with chicken joints, I just put in whatever beans I have. It is great in the freezer, I add the beans once it has defrosted mainly to save freezer space.

And a Mary Berry pear and chocolate pudding that I can’t find a recipe for right now, which hopefully doesn’t mean it’s gone off BBC Goodfood.

just get the Diana Hendry book "Simple". the best veg dishes ever. love the leek, peas, feta and dill dish. Also her carrot, lemon and canellini bean dish, oh and the potato , tomato and vermouth one too. this is the stuff that you can bung in the oven, tastes amazing and has our friends thinking that i have gone back to my professional chef ways.... I just think that her recipes are the best ever, the kids and all our friends love them. and Rick Steins chick pea and chorizo stew, just ignore the recipe in his Spanish book as it asks for 100g garlic (5 bulbs!) should be 10g!

I've just found this thread but haven't read through yet so apologies for any repeat recipes.
I do HFW's chicken, tarragon and tomato,
GR's chilli
and I used to love Tom Aiken's lamb shoulder/leg in balsamic vinegar but can't get lamb here.

jelliedeel · 08/12/2017 22:17

And Wagamama's ramen recipe BUT the one from the book using malt vinegar NOT the website one.
My kids like all of them....weirdly, but thankfully enough.

I made HFWs baked chicken curry this week, and added fresh cherry tomatoes halfway through cooking.

I make different chicken curries all the time and all the family likes this one best - a massive hit. Fresh tomatoes do make quite a difference in curries I think. The only other ingredient that’s in it that’s different to normal was fenugreek.

Will make it more often!

Just did Jools/Jamie Oliver's soy/honey/lime salmon tonight after a long break and it was declared 3rd favourite food ever by DD.
Really simple, but the proportions of ingredients vwork so much better than my previous attempts. I bake huge pieces of salmon rather than grill though.

Just finished making this Mexican Lasagne:
www.nigella.com/recipes/mexican-lasagne
DH is veggie and we love Mexican food so it’s perfect. You could add mince or chicken pieces to the sauce if you wanted. Really easy to make and reheats/freezes well too.
Thanks for this thread, some lovely recipes here to try!

Wow great lazy Sunday reading. But now I’m starving

My contribution has to be the best chilli I’ve ever made. Looks like lots of ingredients but mostly store cupboard. The quantities of spice look like a lot but go with it. It’s devine
