miggy · 17/05/2006 15:43

fray bentos pies
pie and mash with green gravy from pie and mash shop (impossible to recreate the lumpy texture of the potato or the slimeyness/greeness of the sauce at home!)

Lysettes · 17/05/2006 16:41

to my shame i also forgot canned macaroni cheese, or better still the american kraft one that you get dried in a packet.

also macdonalds fries dipped in vanilla milkshake

Eulalia · 17/05/2006 17:59

oh yes cold custard on a hot jam sponge. :)

I love porridge mixed with something like pureed pear, sprinkle of brown sugar and perhaps a dollop of clotted cream on top.

Tomato flavoured crisps (quite hard to come by)

Nuts - am really mad about them - any kind, mixed luxury ones are nice... with a glass of very chilled white wine... Also love crunchy peanut butter sarnies.

Smoked salmon or anything fishy.

olives and pickles.

In fact I love food and there is really very little I'd not eat.

stoppinattwo · 17/05/2006 19:56

When I come home craving food after a beverage or two Grin

the only thing that will doo is, toast with a thin to medium spread of tomato puree with grated cheese ontop mmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmm
(i would advise you pre grate the cheese before going out as is rather awkward after a few drinkies hic!!, and if you dont use your cheese, it can go on the DC's school pack lunch Blush) WOW think I'll send this on into the tip for the day squad. Grin

I didn't dare read the whole thread as I kept agreeing with everyone about (almost!) everything! So my secret food loves appear to be everything everyone has already mentioned!!

Although I have to say, "plastic" cheese sandwiches are amazing - really fresh thin sliced white bread, with margarine and those processed cheese slices. Totally artificial. Yum, yum!

penpal · 17/05/2006 21:08

Salty butter on toasted white bread. Pizza, esp from our local guy. Cheese with ANYTHING improves taste of food beyond belief, esp melted cheese. Toast with peanut butter and jam on top or toast with peanut butter and then a banana spread on top. Buttery bacon sandwiches or rolls, on white of course. Oh yum. Pregnancy used to give me sooo many excuses to indulge.

littlerach · 17/05/2006 21:09

Oooh, nailpolish, cold custard is so much nicer than warm.

And cold rice pudding, straight from yhe tin.

sottovoce · 17/05/2006 21:21

mashed potato (smash if desperate), corned beef, plastic cheese and chillies!

Anything pickled.

Anything cheese related.

Mr Kipling mini victoria sponges Blush. I don't think they make the big one anymore otherwise I would eat the whole thing Blush

tb · 18/05/2006 08:19

Pickled walnuts, vindaloo paste (Nazir's) straight from the jar on the spoon...

mclure · 18/05/2006 09:23

While pregnant I dipped a choc brownie in brown sauce, dh nearly threw up, but it was DELICIOUS! Other than that, condensed milk (how tempted am I to buy a tube and down the lot Blush) and cheese sandwich biscuits. There are many more, but trying to keep it brief!

JayneCa · 18/05/2006 09:23

Peanut butter on toast
Chunky kit kats
Pret chicken & avocado sandwiches
Really stinky brie on oakcakes
The walnut & stilton bread from my local bakery (The Manna House in Edinburgh - go there for the most amazing cakes!)

Still trying to loose the baby weight so the above are currently all banned Sad

Chocolate. Can down a 200g bar of dairy milk no probs Blush
Full English brekkie

Jumbo fish fingers with chips and beans.

babyonboard · 18/05/2006 09:39

salad cream sandwiches on really crappy sliced white bread.
no idea why.

themoon66 · 18/05/2006 10:29

There's definitely a white bread theme going on here.

I LOVE thick white toast spread generously with salty butter, then marmite or marmalade, depending on whether i'm in a savoury or sweet mood.

bran · 18/05/2006 10:59

My favourite sandwich is banana and tuna-mayonnaise. When I'm at home on my own (not very often these days) my shameful treat to myself is french toast with lots and lots of maple syrup.

slackstockmistress · 18/05/2006 11:50

cold new potatoes, mashed up with salad cream and piled onto a thick slice of white bloomer.

Home made chips with salad cream.

Cold roast potatoes.

the scooped-out filling of a jacket spud, mashed up with baked beans and corned beef.

Burnt onions.

smoggie · 18/05/2006 19:24

crisp sarnie with mayonaise - got to be on white bread
pepperami
spicy nik naks
tunnocks caramel wafers
corned beef hash
another chips and curry sauce fan here too

Florizel · 18/05/2006 20:01

Just a variation on a monosodium glutamate noodle theme, I'm afraid, but I love those little plastic packets of noodles imported from China and Thailand that come with a separate packet of scorching flavouring to put into the boiling water you "cook" them in. Like hard-core pot noodles, perhaps?

My sister and I have been known to crave these in unison if one of us happens to mention them.
