Would you like to help us test recipes for the Mumsnet Cookbook?

Shhh .. don't tell everyone but we're working on a top secret new project in the form of The Mumsnet Cookbook and we need your help.

We'd like to get together a Mumsnet Cookbook cookery group to stop us from piling on the pounds help us test these shortlisted recipes.

Each volunteer will be allocated a recipe which they'll then cook for their family and give us some feedback on how easy, hard, good, bad, expensive etc they are and whether they'd make it again. All the recipes chosen were submitted over the years by Mumsnetters, so there shouldn't be any outlandish Shock or particularly difficult to source ingredients - and they should all be pretty easy to make (we hope!).

As a thank-you, we'll be putting everyone who helps out into a prize draw to win a Bloomsbury cookbook.

And if that's not enough of an incentive, everyone who helps will have their *Mumsnetter nickname featured in the cookbook's acknowledgements.

I'd happily do another, too.

CagneyNLacey · 09/10/2012 16:27

Oops , sorry, didn't realise deadline was today. I will do mine tomorrow and feedback tomorrow evening if that's ok?

KnockKnockPenny · 09/10/2012 19:57

Thats mine done, we did the lamb stew, was quite tasty! Have submitted my feedback & sent a photo.

Titsalinabumsquash · 10/10/2012 06:55

Just the feedback form please Smile

DorsetKnob · 10/10/2012 07:04

There is a link just a bit further up the thread tits

CatherineHMumsnet · 10/10/2012 14:55

Thanks for all the offers to test more recipes, we'll definitely take you up on that, although it may take a while we look at all the feedback we've had in.

Talking of feedback, my useless maths means I've just realised we've only had feedback in from 40% of the people who said they'd take part. So I'm going to send out a reminder email today. Please don't be offended if you've been a total star and have already cooked, photographed and given us feedback and are emailed - it's just way, way easier to email you all in one go.

I made the low calorie tandoori chicken a second time this week just to make sure it really was as nice and worked as well as the first time. It was greeted with enthusiasm again.
I will happily experiment on my family some more if you have more recipes that need trying.

ArthurShappey · 10/10/2012 15:30

I cooked mine and reviewed it but forget to photograph. I'm going to make it again tomorrow, this time for DS as well (see what he thinks) so must photograph it.

Remind me how to submit a photo please.

Wigeon · 10/10/2012 15:36

You just email the photo to [email protected].

lisad123 · 10/10/2012 15:39

I completely forgot Blush now have it down to make on fridaynfor me and dh to have on Saturday lunch time.

Pasanna · 10/10/2012 15:50

If there are any recipes left I'll take another one. My marmite and cheese whirls were decidedly not a hit.......

bulletwithspookybatwings · 10/10/2012 15:54

Where do we put our feedback? I can't find the email. Also I was only given one recipe to do, will there be another one? tia

snowballinashoebox · 10/10/2012 15:57

marmite and cheese whirls?

bulletwithspookybatwings · 10/10/2012 16:01

Found the feed back form, all done!

ouryve · 10/10/2012 16:04

thanks for the email reminder. I took a photo but couldn't work out how to submit it. Thankfully I took a pic as soon as it was made because the banana bread didn't last very long. :o

gazzalw · 10/10/2012 16:13

Don't want to challenge your maths, Catherine, but I would say that 120/170 is more than 40% surely....More like 60% (and that's just a rough guess I haven't sat down and worked it out properly)???Wink

CatherineHMumsnet · 10/10/2012 16:21

gazzalw - I hadn't factored for two Mumsnetters testing every recipe!

gazzalw · 10/10/2012 16:32

Oh sorry... (blush) - that will teach me to stick my nose in where it's not wanted. Sorry Catherine!

Trying desperately to back peddle and curry f(l)avour (excuse the apology for humour!), it would be interesting to know if opinions were split or not - hopefully not otherwise no doubt you will have a real issue with deciding which ones to include or not...

You may have drawn the short (cheese) straw with this one Grin!

Pasanna · 10/10/2012 16:33

Marmite and cheese whirls= disgusting, they looked lovely but had a bitter, horrible aftertaste. Dead easy to make though, apart from spreading marmite on pastry,

CatherineHMumsnet · 10/10/2012 17:14

Gazzalw - so far they've either agreed or we're still waiting for the other person to give their feedback. But am feeling hopeful/positive people will agree.

gazzalw · 10/10/2012 17:17

Well if there's consensus it makes your life a lot easier....Pity you are not getting to try out any of the results!!! Grin!

Titsalinabumsquash · 10/10/2012 17:19

I've sent mine back, I hope it went through ok, our Internet is somewhat temperamental atm glares at Sky

SecretNutellaFix · 10/10/2012 18:33
