Would you like to help us test recipes for the Mumsnet Cookbook?

Shhh .. don't tell everyone but we're working on a top secret new project in the form of The Mumsnet Cookbook and we need your help.

We'd like to get together a Mumsnet Cookbook cookery group to stop us from piling on the pounds help us test these shortlisted recipes.

Each volunteer will be allocated a recipe which they'll then cook for their family and give us some feedback on how easy, hard, good, bad, expensive etc they are and whether they'd make it again. All the recipes chosen were submitted over the years by Mumsnetters, so there shouldn't be any outlandish Shock or particularly difficult to source ingredients - and they should all be pretty easy to make (we hope!).

As a thank-you, we'll be putting everyone who helps out into a prize draw to win a Bloomsbury cookbook.

And if that's not enough of an incentive, everyone who helps will have their *Mumsnetter nickname featured in the cookbook's acknowledgements.

Wow - what a response! We've had over 300 people wanting to help out which is brilliant. I hope you've all clicked the link and added your name there, as we're just about to close it.

CatherineHMumsnet · 01/10/2012 14:10

Sending out emails today to everyone who added their details to be a recipe tester. We've tried as far as humanly possible to take your preferences in mind and also any family food allergies or intolerances. Hopefully we've got it right. Can't wait to get the feedback (and to see your pictures if you're able to take and send them in).

CatherineHMumsnet · 02/10/2012 11:28

Hi everyone - happy to hear lots of you are already cooking away. We've even had some photos through already. If you'd like to swap, please do - as long as you complete the feedback form with the name of the recipe you actually ended up cooking that's fine.

Terrywogantrousers - you didn't fill in your email so we couldn't contact you. I do still have some recipes for testing - will DM you.

CatherineHMumsnet · 02/10/2012 12:31

Do please add them in recipes. We're doing all kinds of weirdy recipes, but right now have picked a shortlist of what we're thinking of featuring in the book, so these might be too late.

CatherineHMumsnet · 02/10/2012 15:49

Catsmama - PM-ing you now.

CatherineHMumsnet · 02/10/2012 16:17

mrspink27 - do you fancy doing a roast turkey?

CatherineHMumsnet · 02/10/2012 16:38

GwendolineMaryLacey - it would be great if we could have them done by the end of this coming weekend.

I do have a roast turkey recipe if anyone wants to try that - I know it's a bit expensive though.

CatherineHMumsnet · 02/10/2012 16:54

debka - good point. Reckon the one-pot refers to the sauce and you'll have to cook the spaghetti separately.

CatherineHMumsnet · 02/10/2012 16:55

RuleBritannia - right now we have enough volunteers, but if for some reason people don't respond with their recipe feedback, we may be in need of more help in which case may we hold you in reserve?

CatherineHMumsnet · 03/10/2012 09:20

Toomanyworriedsonhere - I'll DM you details.

CatherineHMumsnet · 03/10/2012 11:06

Ifancyanewname - will PM you.

CatherineHMumsnet · 03/10/2012 12:15

HerofftheInternet - nothing right now, but will keep you posted.

CatherineHMumsnet · 03/10/2012 12:38

Spirael - it's so good to know there are people like you out there, willing to go that extra mile, consume those extra calories...

CatherineHMumsnet · 03/10/2012 16:40

RuleBritannia - have sent you a PM, may have a recipe for you to test.

CatherineHMumsnet · 04/10/2012 09:44

Frontpaw - when you were sent your recipe, the email also contained a link to click where you can leave feedback. Sorry to hear about the fruity malt loaf - but then that's exactly the kind of disaster we want to avoid in the book!

SlimJimBra - we had so many offers of people wanting to get involved that we've given everyone just one recipe to test. But we've doubled the number of prizes we're offering in the competition to 20 books.

CatherineHMumsnet · 04/10/2012 11:28

LeonieDeSaintVire - we haven't picked deliberately dire ones - honestly. Can you make sure you include those comments for your recipe in the feedback section? Thanks!

CatherineHMumsnet · 07/10/2012 17:12

Catsmama - have PMd you link.
Coops79 and MrsJohnDeere - just one recipe each at this point. And can you add the feedback on tin size etc on the feedback form? We'll make sure all recipes are metric in the book.

CatherineHMumsnet · 08/10/2012 10:01

Merrylegs - sorry about that, if you'd said hatred of mince, we'd have accommodated your preference!

And apologies everyone about not being able to edit your feedback. Am trying to find out if that's doable once you've submitted your form.

We've had around 60% feedback so far, so it would be very useful if you have had a recipe to test if we could have your feedback in by tomorrow please.

And on a related note, am delighted that BetterTogether who tested the yoghurt pudding actually really liked it

Elkieb - when we emailed you your recipe, you had a link to the feedback form in that email. Let me know if you can't find it.

Leoniedesaintvivre - once we have all the feedback in this week, we'll do a draw for the 20 cookbooks we're giving away. I'll post the winners' names on this thread and email them all individually too.

Zipzap - any chance you could email me the pictures as well as putting them on your profile?

Bumpstart - we really need recipes in this week. I can push it to Wednesday at the latest.

CatherineHMumsnet · 08/10/2012 10:25

BarmeeMarmee - yes that's my bad. When could you do the recipe by do you think?

CatherineHMumsnet · 08/10/2012 10:26

I'm not sure if I've done this correctly - but you should be able to edit your feedback form. If you can't, let me know.

And for anyone with more than one recipe to review, you should now be able to submit a further feedback form.

CatherineHMumsnet · 08/10/2012 10:52

Frontpaw - soz, luck of the draw I'm afraid. We may well have to choose some more recipes in which case we'll be back in touch with you all.

CatherineHMumsnet · 08/10/2012 10:59

OK - looks like we've got another recipe to test.

Anyone not tested something for us yet that would like to try this?

First one to reply gets it.

CatherineHMumsnet · 08/10/2012 12:25

LeonieDeSaintVivre - we now have two cookbook authors coming in who are going to be looking at all your feedback and tweaks and working on coming up with new versions of the recipes you all liked.

CatherineHMumsnet · 08/10/2012 13:06

Elkieb - have PMd you.

CatherineHMumsnet · 09/10/2012 10:23

If you've lost the email with your link to post feedback on your recipe here it is again.
