Would you like to help us test recipes for the Mumsnet Cookbook?

Shhh .. don't tell everyone but we're working on a top secret new project in the form of The Mumsnet Cookbook and we need your help.

We'd like to get together a Mumsnet Cookbook cookery group to stop us from piling on the pounds help us test these shortlisted recipes.

Each volunteer will be allocated a recipe which they'll then cook for their family and give us some feedback on how easy, hard, good, bad, expensive etc they are and whether they'd make it again. All the recipes chosen were submitted over the years by Mumsnetters, so there shouldn't be any outlandish Shock or particularly difficult to source ingredients - and they should all be pretty easy to make (we hope!).

As a thank-you, we'll be putting everyone who helps out into a prize draw to win a Bloomsbury cookbook.

And if that's not enough of an incentive, everyone who helps will have their *Mumsnetter nickname featured in the cookbook's acknowledgements.

Is OK. I am going to brave the mince tonight. I have all the other ingredients. Just going to catch the turkey. (Does anybody actually like Turkey mince though. Really?!)

CatherineHMumsnet · 08/10/2012 10:52

Frontpaw - soz, luck of the draw I'm afraid. We may well have to choose some more recipes in which case we'll be back in touch with you all.

I made our recipe - Yorkshire puddings - yesterday. They were fine, but then you can't really go wrong with yorkies!

CatherineHMumsnet · 08/10/2012 10:59

OK - looks like we've got another recipe to test.

Anyone not tested something for us yet that would like to try this?

First one to reply gets it.

Catherine I could probably get feedback to you on Thursday (Friday at the absolute latest).

Frontpaw · 08/10/2012 11:14

Where's the feedback. I have feedback, oh I have feedback.

KnockKnockPenny · 08/10/2012 11:17

I am going to make the lamb dish, probably tomorrow.

LeonieDeSaintVivre - we now have two cookbook authors coming in who are going to be looking at all your feedback and tweaks and working on coming up with new versions of the recipes you all liked.

CatherineHMumsnet - I've sent the tartiflette photos to you in a couple of emails this afternoon, plus a separate email to say they are coming (having been caught sending photos to friends previously and then everything bouncing because the emails were too big for their inbox!). They haven't bounced back yet so hoping they have reached you ok. Give me a shout if they haven't come through and you want them sending through again.

I've also stuck them up on my profile.

Titsalinabumsquash · 08/10/2012 17:22

Catherine my iPad wiped all my emails! I didn't know the deadline was so short. If you want to send the link again I'll fill it in this evening, I've made the dish. Smile

Jcee · 08/10/2012 17:27

We're having ours for dinner tonight!

CatherineHMumsnet - will send feedback and pics later - there seemed to be a stage missing from recipe of what to do with some ingredients so I took an executive decision...we'll see if it worked later!

DorsetKnob · 08/10/2012 20:52

Yoo Hoo

I have done it, deleted the email with how we should feedback about it, could you put a link up here for us?

41notTrendy · 08/10/2012 22:45

Had ours tonight! Kleftiko-slow cooked lamb. Was good, easy to do. The Feta you crumble over the top doesn't melt Confused but it added a nice contrast to the richness of the dish. Ds enjoyed it and DH loved the sauce. We cook lamb shoulder quite often in the slow cooker so will probably do this again. We had it with cous cous and peas, as I've run out of veg now this week Grin.

Catherine, I've emailed a pic but it's from a different email than the one registered to my mumsnet details...and I forget to say who it was from Blush but the photo of the delicious looking Kleftiko in the square dish was my effort!!

CatherineHMumsnet · 09/10/2012 10:23

If you've lost the email with your link to post feedback on your recipe here it is again.

41NotTrendy - thanks - looks lovely!

We've now had feedback on 120 out of the 170 recipes we sent out which is amazing - thanks so much.

If you still have to fill in the form, it would be great if you could do it over the next few days. And if you were given a recipe and don't think you'll be able to do it or to make it in time, let me know and I'll see if I can give it to someone else.

mmmmmchocolate · 09/10/2012 11:29

Im cooking mine now! (pork and apple casserole) so the feedback will be with you tonight!

CatherineHMumsnet · 09/10/2012 12:07

Titsalinabumsquash - do you need the link to your recipe sent again?

OP posts:
ChutesTooNarrow · 09/10/2012 13:36

I will do mine tomorrow lunchtime. I have to admit I am not too enthusiastic about it, as will need to faff around with the food processor just for pesto pasta - which I only ever make when I need a quick, no fuss, minimal washing up meal!

Parisbanana · 09/10/2012 14:31

Ooh if there are any more recipes needing doing I'll happily do another. We really enjoyed doing our last one even though we didn't particularly like the dish!

gazzalw · 09/10/2012 16:18

I second Parisbanana - would be happy to help out with another one if need be!
