Would you like to help us test recipes for the Mumsnet Cookbook?

Shhh .. don't tell everyone but we're working on a top secret new project in the form of The Mumsnet Cookbook and we need your help.

We'd like to get together a Mumsnet Cookbook cookery group to stop us from piling on the pounds help us test these shortlisted recipes.

Each volunteer will be allocated a recipe which they'll then cook for their family and give us some feedback on how easy, hard, good, bad, expensive etc they are and whether they'd make it again. All the recipes chosen were submitted over the years by Mumsnetters, so there shouldn't be any outlandish Shock or particularly difficult to source ingredients - and they should all be pretty easy to make (we hope!).

As a thank-you, we'll be putting everyone who helps out into a prize draw to win a Bloomsbury cookbook.

And if that's not enough of an incentive, everyone who helps will have their *Mumsnetter nickname featured in the cookbook's acknowledgements.

If it was the dairy free one, that would be me!

Spirael · 10/10/2012 19:34

I had a chocolate cake recipe, but there might have been multiple types?

LakeFlyPie · 10/10/2012 21:03

Thanks for email reminder, have now located my recipe from my spam folder Blush.
Thankfully it doesn't contain spam, it's a prune and bacon loaf, sounds interesting!
Will cook it up at the weekend and feedback ASAP

MadameDefarge · 10/10/2012 21:25

i'd love to. promise to do good feedback this time!

MrsJohnDeere · 10/10/2012 21:50

Not me then - no Nutella in mine

Spirael · 10/10/2012 21:55

No Nutella here either!

Just done my feedback. Did the Turkey Twizzlers at the weekend, and sad to say not a hit. My friends hubby wolfed them down, but the kids wouldnt touch. Was too spicey for the baby (16months) and the 3yr old wasn't interested. (Harissa)

I wasn't keen at all either. Did meatballs and served with mash and mange tous.
I susbtituted a handful of frozen peas for the frozen mixed veg as thats about the only frozen veg I ever have in the freezer.
Didn't do a photo as forgot until afterwards. Think not really a family meal, although it says kid friendly on recipe. Older kids might like?

I did mine straight away mod pet Mind you it was pasta crisps Hmm

Lasagne sheets baked in the oven, even DD2 turned her nose up at them and she eats worms.

worldgonecrazy · 11/10/2012 09:02

I did mine last night. Fruity cous-cous. I thought the addition of tomatoes was a waste of time. Otherwise it was just like normal cous-cous, with the added bit of having to fry ginger and onion first.

Cous-cous with bits in is such an easy recipe - I'm not sure why the recipe creator tried to make it more complicated.

Does anyone want to swap with me? I got given Sunday Lunch Pie which is made from leftovers from Sunday lunch - but we haven't had a roast since I got the email and won't be having one this weekend either.

Fillybuster · 12/10/2012 14:27

I had pasta crisps too. No-one would touch them....I even tried to do it a 2nd time, as I thought I must have done something a bit wrong....!

CaseyShraeger · 12/10/2012 15:19

I've had pasta crisps in Carluccio's. They were OK but didn't leave me determined to seek out a recipe and recreate the experience.

Well just done the ice cream cone cakes - not a success had to pursuade the kids to eat them which is a bit of a first for my kids and cake Smile

Bumpstart · 13/10/2012 18:57

Recipes which include "five washed and cubed potatoes" in their ingredient list really annoy me. Why can't the washing and cubing bit be in the method?

I follow the method, and then find that I require some ready washed potatoes all of a sudden and have to turn the thing off while I scrub the spuds.

Can mumsnet recipes avoid hiding preparation steps in the ingredient list please?

ArthurShappey · 13/10/2012 19:57

Just set my picture of the slow cooked southwestern chicken. It's quite nice, but missing something and I can't quite put my finger on what it is?
