I shall be attempting this tomorrow for dinner. I am excited about trying something I've heard such good things about but am looking for any tips! Also interested to hear your experiences. :)

Ive made it exactly how the book says, and it always turns out yummy!

Honeydragon · 13/04/2012 19:09

It is absolutely lovely, bought ones are no longer up to scratch!

redlac · 13/04/2012 19:13

Never tried it but had the wedges from that book tonight for the first time in aagggeess

VickityBoo · 13/04/2012 20:36

Any tips on how to cut it thinly like the shops?

I stick a metal skewer in mine and hold it up and use a very big knife and slice down to get long thin slices Smile

VickityBoo · 13/04/2012 21:12

Thank you I shall be doing it that way then!

Ooo any chance I can have the recipe please? (sorry to be cheeky!)

BlackAffronted · 19/04/2012 18:08

It's on my blog here as we had it for tea last night (again! the kids adore it!)

AnEcumenicalMatter · 19/04/2012 18:19

A big favourite in our house. Had it for the umpteenth time a few nights ago. The recipe for it was worth the price of the book alone.

BreakOutTheKaraoke · 20/04/2012 20:12

Black, I love your blog! I will definitely be stealing borrowing some of your recipes!

MimsyBorogroves · 20/04/2012 20:15

I'm a crap cook Sad The one time I tried to make it the end result was so dry I couldn't eat it - but that's definitely me, not the recipe. I can burn water.

Methe · 20/04/2012 20:19

i LOVE kebabs

tb · 22/04/2012 16:11

The tomato sauce for pizza topping is good, too. Not too sure about the chip shop curry sauce.

AuntieMaggie · 22/04/2012 16:12

ooh is this a good book?

BlackAffronted · 22/04/2012 16:59

tb, I agree, the chip shop curry sauce was awful :( Its the onlything from teh book I have actually disliked. I have, so far, made about 20 recipes from this book!

BlackAffronted · 22/04/2012 16:59

AuntieMaggies, it only costs £3/£4 and its my most used cookbook Blush

Methe · 23/04/2012 14:41

We are having this for tea tonight, it had better be good!

BlackAffronted · 23/04/2012 20:50

How was it?

Methe · 23/04/2012 21:00

Really really nice and really donorish.. Tasted just like the real thing!

dh was really impressed and the kids scoffed the lot :)

Fab recipe.

BlackAffronted · 24/04/2012 17:03

Do you have the book? Ive tried a few recipes and most of them are nice.

caffeinated · 24/04/2012 17:29

What else would you recommend from the book?

Methe · 24/04/2012 17:31

Not got the book no, I had never heard of it before I saw this thread. We eat ourfair share of takeaway food though so i've put it on my amazon list for payday :)

BlackAffronted · 24/04/2012 18:20

The chinese ribs are gorgeous! As is the chicken pakoras & chicken satay. The best I think is the sweet & sour chicken - I like it better than teh takeaway version! So far I have made .. lamb kebabs, chicken BBQ kebabs, chinese ribs, pakoras, Big Macs, Sausage & Egg McMuffins, garlic bread, sweet n sour chicken, char sui pork, chow mein, egg fried rice, chicken pakoras, garlic mushrooms, korma, tikka masala, spicy onions, chicken nuggets, KFC chicken (didnt reallytaste like KFC, but still yummy), naan bread, BBQ pizza and the ice cream! Grin Only one recipe I dont like, the chip shop curry sauce, its quite dosgusting :(

NettoSuperstar · 25/04/2012 09:36

I'm tempted to make the chip shop curry now!

I borrowed the book from a friend a few weeks ago, but haven't been tempted to use it untill reading this thread. I need big recipe books that I can prop open in the kitchen, and that have picturesBlush
Going to do the donor on Saturday night though, with home made pitas.

BlackAffronted · 25/04/2012 19:10

I made the pittas too, but I must have gone wrong somewhere are they were spongey rather than flat Hmm
