Ooh, ooh, I'm most excited to find you here!

I have a KitchenAid. I bought it three weeks ago and it takes up all the space in my kitchen and I luff it.

So. What can I do with it? At the moment I'm mainly stroking it when I see it, which, although satisfying I feel that it could do more.

Al0uise · 16/03/2012 07:29

Jins that link opens up to the Vajazzle your tag" thread? I was hoping for a tiger bread recipe :o

Nospringflower · 16/03/2012 09:12

OMG clicked on John Lewis website to order mixer after not doing it yesterday and it's gone up to £419 - feel sick! Will need to try and find it somewhere else but that means we won't be together on Sunday Sad

Chopstheduck · 16/03/2012 09:19

Nospringflower, you could try calling them? JL have ace customer service and they may let you have it at the lower price. I love John Lewis. I once got a store in Scotland to send me down some lego that was on offer because my local store didn't have it, and they didn't even charge fro delivery.

I am totally up for a recipe share! Just don't say your attachments bigger than mine and it shall remain peaceful Grin Wink

Nospringflower · 16/03/2012 09:39

Have found it on Stur of somewhere website for £373 so will phone John Lewis and see if they will match price Smile.

Chopstheduck · 16/03/2012 09:41

Love your username cunning!

I have no idea what attachments are on the Kenwood. Don't think I want to know neither

Jins · 16/03/2012 09:42

That's weird - it opens to a tiger bread recipe for me Shock

Here's the link I posted and it looks like it's the same one

If the kenwood thread had been more 'stand mixer' then we wouldn't have needed our own quiche and we'd all have been happily coexisting

Kenwoods have attachments you can only dream of and I would have been happy with one. but it would have to be hidden in a cupboard

I actually went as far as handing over payment for a KA Classic, but it was too big and I decided that I will only have a KA when I can afford a really pretty one with a glass bowl in a really big pretty kitchen Sad

Jins · 16/03/2012 09:53

The classic is a bit basic in looks compared to the artisan :(

It's still pretty enough to leave out though and the lack of handle on the bowl makes it a bit easier to tuck away.

stealthsquiggle · 16/03/2012 09:53

Bugger. Flex beater doesn't fit my KA (K50). Back to drawing board.

Honeydragon · 16/03/2012 09:57

Jins I have a Prospero as it's the only one small enough to fit under the boiler in my kitchen its a teeny tiny little marvel in silver and black Grin

Jins · 16/03/2012 10:00

I was going to buy a Prospero with my Christmas money but DH bought me a KA Classic

The Prospero is a nice looking machine and very well priced. I'd have been more than happy with it and may well have left it out. The Chef however...

Grin I know, it's a bit of a munter

Chopstheduck · 16/03/2012 10:05

I thought the classic was identical to the artisan, apart from being white? Mine def has a handle on the bowl too.

i don't actually like the glass bowls - I think they would look nicer if they didn't have a handle moulded in glass. I know someone said about rising dough in it, but I just stick the bowl on the radiator for a bit - rises very quickly!

Chopstheduck · 16/03/2012 10:07

I'm not convinced about the necessity fo a flex beater. Maybe the classic doesn't leave as much crap on the bottom? I do get stuff up the sides, but just scrap with a silicon spatula in between adding ingredients, and that seems to do the trick.

Jins · 16/03/2012 10:12

My classic just has a plain stainless steel bowl.

I don't think I need a flex beater either - seems to work well enough with the standard beater

Chopstheduck · 16/03/2012 10:17

I jsut realised the K50 is the big commercial jobby! Very jealous!

stealthsquiggle · 16/03/2012 10:22

The Classic is (I think) also known as a K45. Mine is a K50, which lifts the bowl to the beater rather than having a tilt head - hence the difference in beaters. I think it also has a slightly larger bowl (5 quarts) and came with 2 stainless steel bowls. I do need a new beater of some sort because mine is chipped and risks leaving lumps of paint in things. There is a third party flex beater which is made for it, so I have just ordered one from the US. Fingers crossed it will be under the duty limits.

Jins · 16/03/2012 10:30

Mine's a KSS45 - SS standing for stainless steel I guess.

Let us know if you get away with the duty. I've got a friend who will send things as a gift if needed but it's only worth doing that for a significant difference in price

Thanks chopsGrin I am stealing the tiger bread recipe though! Dp has been asking me to make it!!

Jins · 16/03/2012 10:50

It's quite good. The topping isn't as spicy as bought tiger bread and the texture is a bit heavier but it's nice bread.

You need to shape it very firmly otherwise it will spread
