Which 5 meals do you cook most often?

Please indulge me. Been sick with hyperemesis for the last 5 months, so the thought of food was pushed to the very back of my mind. I'm now ready to look at cookbooks again. It's bliss! In fact, I'm a little obsessed at the moment with all the things I want to eat...

So what are the 5 meals you make the most often?

And also, how many different meals are there roughly in your repertoire that you rotate for dinner?

I make spagetti bolognaise nearly every week, a roast dinner every Sunday, depends on time of year but seem to be making a lot of stews at the moment (with pearl barley, delicious!) fish pie, lasagne, veggie curry. Am really into cooking at the moment as my youngest started school in September so can indulge myself with preparing longer-to-cook meals!

Most frequently, pasta with cheese sauce and green veg, ragu, soup of many kinds, chilli.

No idea how many different recipes we usually rotate, but I tend to do at least one new thing a week.

Truffkin · 05/11/2011 14:42

Our regulars are spag bol, cottage pie, chicken fajitas, spicy chicken pasta, salmon with stir fried veg, roast, fish pie, meatballs with spaghetti and sausage & mash. There are a few other things in there that change seasonally so beef stew or chicken casserole in winter; seasoned grilled chicken breast with baked pots and salad in summer.

I 'm on maternity leave at the moment so experimenting a bit more with home made pasta sauces, stuffed meat & fish and pies but when we're both at work it's nice, easy stuff that can be on the table in 40 minutes or less!

noddyholder · 05/11/2011 14:42

Bean soup

I think the thing I make the most is Thai green chicken curry. I also do a lot of Indian curries - I have "I love curry" by Anjum Anand so have been working through all of the different recipes. I also make beef and guinness stew quite a lot. Besides those I batch cook bolognaise sauce and chilli so there's normally some of that in the freezer if I can't be bothered to cook.

Psammead · 05/11/2011 14:49

Regular features

Spag bol
Spag carbonara
Caesar salad
Soup
Sweet and sour

We have at least one of those once a week.

I guess I have about 50 main course recipes that I use, some more regularly than others.

Letchlady · 05/11/2011 14:50

My children and husband all have cooked meals at school / work, further my daughters have to often eat 'on the run' as they do a lot of gymnastics, so I need food that is quick / easy to cook or heat up. Therefore my girls have (most weeks)

Macaroni cheese
Fish, vegetables and rice in a cheese sauce
Pizza (Fridays)

At the weekends dh cooks, and his 3 favourites are:
Spag Bol (made with quorn) or chilli
Curry
Fajitas or enchiladas.

He'll cook two of these each weekend

DougalDaydream · 05/11/2011 14:53
