.. and i don't mean the crappy standard ones. i mean the finest ones ever. i was always partial to tesco 'finest' and sainsbury 'taste the diff' but someone last year recommended the next step up on the posh scale to 'Duchy Originals' which i've bought but haven't tucked into yet.

which are the very very best in your opinions?

i've got auditors in now. fortunately they are all horny blonde 20 somethings (which is incredible rare in this profession) so i'm not as stressed as usual.

girly - you're dh would appreciate this!

ASDA Extra Special All Butter Taste Test

VERDICT 25.11.05: I'm disappointed. The intial presentation is nice, with a very fancy ripple pattern around the side and a snowflake across the top dusted heavily (too heavily) in icing suger.

The filling is quite nice. Very full of alcohol and large chunks of gooey stuff.

The pastry is terrible. It is brittle and dry and is comparable only to Mr. Kipling mince pies (which are exceedingly crap).

I wouldn't go as far as to say this was a poor pie, but it is certainly not on the short list of UK's best pie.
