So... What are the best mince pies?

.. and i don't mean the crappy standard ones. i mean the finest ones ever. i was always partial to tesco 'finest' and sainsbury 'taste the diff' but someone last year recommended the next step up on the posh scale to 'Duchy Originals' which i've bought but haven't tucked into yet.

which are the very very best in your opinions?

Enid - they were nothing special, believe me... and i'm not just saying that because they are ASDA. These pies are the best of the lower class pies ie: the standard pies you get from tesco, sainsbaggers.

yup northerner and its far from over...

I've still got to taste M&S Luxury and a handful of lesser known pies as well.

I hate that glutinous syrup stuff in the filling you get with an inferior pie

northerner · 25/11/2005 10:49

How fat are you gonna be come christmas - all that pastry?

You'll be toppling over on your one leg

DaddyCoolNippingAtYourNose · 25/11/2005 10:50

leggist.

thought you were testing at 12, greedy whatsit

northerner · 25/11/2005 11:07

I hate mince pies. It's all our bloomin suppliers bring in throughout December, and every one has mince pies with their cuppa tea.

I cockin well HATE MINCE PIES

Girly · 25/11/2005 11:09

don't hold back Northener, tell us how it really is

ark · 25/11/2005 11:26

fudges cocktail mince pies - small but buttery heaven!

yummmmm

DaddyCoolNippingAtYourNose · 25/11/2005 12:44

northerner must exclude herself from this thread. she is tainting it with her poisonous anti-mince comments and have no bearing on our ongoing investigation

Girly - Couldn't wait.

is that warm with grand marnier cream?

not convinced about mince pies and cream of any sort

DaddyCoolNippingAtYourNose · 25/11/2005 13:02

almost all cod... the duchy original pastry was fantastic but they were double the price of even the finest ones.
