Saw it this afternoon and loved it. Cried and laughed so much. There were a few scenes that really resonated with me. I want to watch it again.

Eeek, a few spoilers here?

Oh, are spoilers not okay on this thread then? I'll get it removed then.

drspouse · 15/02/2025 23:15

Saw it last night with a friend. Really enjoyed it but also held back a few tears.
I loved the Jim Broadbent and Colin Firth bits. Her house was scarily true to life.

Saw it tonight reluctantly. Left the cinema a total emotional wreck. I was expecting to hate it but it’s beautiful! What a surprise. FYI I am not a Bridget jones person at all!

I went to see it this afternoon and have come home and have emotional exhaustion! It was probably one of the best yet. But trying not to snotty sob in the cinema is emotionally draining! Lots of laughs as well

Aquarius1234 · 16/02/2025 18:01

I liked it but didn't love it, anyone else?
I thought it was too long, I'm surprised the 1st film was only 1 hrs 35 mins ? As I would have thought it was longer but maybe that's why rom coms drag when they are 2 hrs ish

For me nothing beats the Original and it's one of the best rom coms out there, I like the fact the 1st one wasn't too cheesy or sentimental. Bit edgy for a rom com.
I've seen it loads but I can't see myself seeing this one lots.

NotMeNoNo · 16/02/2025 18:32

I've seen it this afternoon and enjoyed it, I agree quite emotional if you've lost someone young. I was just feeling by about 3/4 of the way through the funny Bridget voice and walk were getting a bit stilted but it's all in character. Also it would have been more realistic if she'd put on weight in middle age, not lost it! (But can see why RZ might have found it a step too far to do that again).

belge2 · 16/02/2025 19:11

Seen it! It's great. Funny, moving and perfect Bridget Jones

BackToRealitySigh · 16/02/2025 20:24

I saw it this afternoon and thought it was a perfect mix of funny, sad, cringe, predictable, nostalgic for the previous films.
Agree about RZ surgery/facial expression and walk but it didn't spoil it for me.
Hugh Grant was great.
Looking forward to watching it at home whenever it is released and singing along to soundtrack.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 16/02/2025 22:26

Saw it tonight and really enjoyed it.

I laughed and cried, I loved the Britishness of it and thought it was a good film to finish the series on.

LionalRichTea · 16/02/2025 22:32

I went last night and loved it!!!

mrsnjw · 17/02/2025 08:25

Prime??

Anewyearanewday · 17/02/2025 11:28

I watched it and it was ok. I didn’t love it. I didn’t find it very funny. One part was sad. But it wasn’t a great film by any standards.

mrsnjw · 17/02/2025 08:25

Prime??

Yeah, I have a US & Canadian prime account. It's free on their & it's free. I was really surprised

Saturdaynightlive · 17/02/2025 15:50

It's not in the Cinema over here. Not much interest. Most of my friends haven't heard of it.

If it had Jason Statham and/or a shark in it I would.

But it doesn't.

So I won't.

I'm going to see it this week. I'm looking forward to it but wouldn't mind if Jason was in it too. I'm not too bothered about sharks.

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 17/02/2025 21:01

I'm a massive Bridget fan and was so looking forward to this but I just didn't feel it.

I"m going with your user name only here but if you're in the US, it's on Peacock. Obviously that's only relevant if you do get in any interest in it lol.

The one thing that has been bugging me is the house they live in. In one scene, it appears to have access to Hampstead Heath from literally 20 m from their front door. How much would that house have been worth?! Because she doesn't seem quite rich enough!

Jason Statham! Love that man. 'The Mechanic'. The monologue from 'Spy'... 'Hobbs and Shaw'... I'll stop now.

I kept thinking the same thing re the house as when she was a singleton she wasn’t exactly loaded - although I used to love her little flat. But then I remembered that Mark Darcy was a ‘top human rights barrister’ and had probably had a lot of dosh.
