I haven’t seen any of them but have been invited to this one by a new group of people, so going in an effort to get to know them!
does it matter I know nothing about BJD other than she fancied Hugh Grant and seemed to dropped things a lot?

Just go with it, unless you can cram the other ones in before you go?

Saw it tonight reluctantly. Left the cinema a total emotional wreck. I was expecting to hate it but it’s beautiful! What a surprise. FYI I am not a Bridget jones person at all!

I am a Bridget Jones person and thought it was wonderful. I can’t say too much without spoiling.

Just back from watching it with girlfriends. Disclaimer - I've loved the Bridget Jones character since the 90's and loved all the books and films.
We LOVED it. We expected (and got) lots of laughs, but we weren't expecting to come out of the cinema wiping tears away! Without saying too much, there is the most beautiful, heartfelt moment towards the end, where the acting is beautifully done and we were all silently sobbing!
Taking mum next week and looking forward to seeing it again.

Just got home from cinema - loved the film!

Chickydoo · 13/02/2025 22:18

Not generally a Bridget Jones fan, this was however a bloody great film! Funny, sweet and emotional. Take your Kleenex!

discdiscsnap · 13/02/2025 22:22

No I read the book and it was rubbish . I was relieved when the third film didn't follow it.

Billi80 · 13/02/2025 22:23

can we start a spoiler thread?

GiraffesAtThePark · 13/02/2025 22:31

I don’t fancy it. Once something is really popular they exhaust it with so many further sequels. I get that it’s the safer and more lucrative option.
I liked the first film. I also read the book. It was a fun romantic comedy. The others were a bit meh. I’ll just leave it like that.

GoldMoon · 13/02/2025 22:35

No , I've only ever seen the first one . Follow ups are usually disappointing .

justmyluck1234 · 13/02/2025 22:36

Not booked anything yet, but definitely want to go see it as I've watched all the others.

Karmaisagod · 13/02/2025 22:48

Help! I've just got back from watching the film (loved it) and I'm trawling through soundtrack listings looking for one of the songs. I recognised it and love it, but I can't remember what it is, and it doesn't appear in any of the soundtrack lists I've found. It's instrumental and electronic-ish, I think. It played fairly early on in scenes in her house. Does anyone know which song I'm talking about? I'm getting desperate.

Eaumyword · 13/02/2025 22:53

Is it Modern Love by David Bowie? Near the beginning when they are bouncing around getting ready?
Has a lyric 'get me to the church on time'...
Fab song!

This was exactly how I felt! I wasn’t even crazy about the first one and all those working title films and I wanted to see something else entirely. It’s a gorgeous film about so many things . Amazing acting from everyone especially the kids.

Appalonia · 13/02/2025 22:58

Yes definitely, don't care what the reviews are like!!

Paradoes · 13/02/2025 23:04

saw tonight .. amazing film and would recommend ! Love Bridget and all the cast actually

DurbevillesGirl2 · 13/02/2025 23:13

Saw it today and while I thought it was great and fairly true to the book, it was just too sad! I cried five separate times and I actually left early at the end as I just felt emotionally drained! So many sad parts, I was expecting the usual Bridget Jones romcom

TheaBrandt1 · 13/02/2025 23:21

We laughed out loud and I also cried. Fab film ignore the snooty reviews the guardian one is absolute nonsense. It is sad though. Maybe avoid if you’re recently widowed.

tougholdbirdy · 13/02/2025 23:21

Just seen it. V.V. Good.

Princessconsuelabananahammock9 · 13/02/2025 23:23

Thank you, it's not that. I think it might be the next song played after that one, or two after.

Cloverforever · 13/02/2025 23:30

I'm going with friends next week. Really looking forward to it now.

TheaBrandt1 · 13/02/2025 23:35

Cinema was packed every seat taken and lovely responsive audience reminds me why it’s nice going to cinema

LuxuryWoman2020 · 13/02/2025 23:37
