can we start a spoiler thread?

I did, but I don‘T know if it’s actually allowed,

marmiteloversunite · 13/02/2025 23:42

Saw it today. Absolutely loved it and felt it was back to the true Bridget. Laughed and cried a lot. Will probably go again. Smile

Oxonc3 · 14/02/2025 00:02

Saw it this evening. Laughed and cried. V good

BellaCiaoBellaCiao · 14/02/2025 00:08

I’ll go with my son when I feel better.
Am really ill just now 😔

Yes, with a fab girlfriend on Saturday in a cinema that serves wine and pizza, and can't wait!

Everyman cinema?

Wingingitbestican · 14/02/2025 00:35

Me and husband are going next week to watch it - going to re-watch the previous three films first. We started with the first one tonight ❤️

TheaBrandt1 · 14/02/2025 06:35

I do find it annoying when posters say they won’t go to see something because it will be rubbish for some spurious reason. You can’t have an opinion about something until you’ve actually flipping seen it!

As long as you clearly mark it as spoiler,

Cattreesea · 14/02/2025 09:34

It's not my type of film so I will give it a miss.

But a neighbour saw it with friends yesterday and she said they all enjoyed it.

Yes, I'm really looking forward to seeing Bridget again, it feels like I'm going to meet up with a great old friend

YES! Exactly this. Am going tonight with DP for a Valentine's treat, bless him.

RubyRedBow · 14/02/2025 10:25

No. I really enjoy the first two but the clips I’ve seen of the new one look terrible.

I asked my teen if she wanted to go but she was less than interested.

FrenchandSaunders · 14/02/2025 10:33

I'm going with my DD on Sunday, also to a cinema that serves pizza and wine. Everyman.

Upstartled · 14/02/2025 10:35

Yes. Really looking forward to it. I miss a bit of romantic cheese without worthy intentions.

TheLionandAlbert · 14/02/2025 10:37

I’m hoping it’ll be on a long flight I’ve got next month. I don’t think I’ve see the last one.

TheaBrandt1 · 14/02/2025 13:04

It’s not actually cheesy to be fair. It’s funny though but also really quite sad. Both Dh and late teen Dd enjoyed it so had quite broad appeal.

TheaBrandt1 · 14/02/2025 13:04

It’s also a gut punch seeing how the characters have all aged.

ProfessorLeveretGrey · 14/02/2025 13:07

I think I will go and see it now based on the strength of the responses on this thread. Smile

Anyone going today that can report back?

I love all 3 films, first one is my fav.

A few people have asked me to go so I might end up seeing it a few times!

I am also tempted to just sneak along on my own tomorrow night and see it 💞

Saw it last night. It was sad and funny… I enjoyed it for what it is. But then I don’t get out much😁

Cynic17 · 14/02/2025 16:11

The franchise is back on form - as good as the first one, but with some proper substance at its heart. And, yes, I defy anyone not to cry.

Best actor in it is the young boy playing Billy.

But Hugh Grant steals every scene he's in!

culturevulture1984 · 14/02/2025 16:15

Yes. Definitely.

I am hoping I'll love it.

It's getting good reviews.

Not my usual cup of tea but I have a good feeling.

MellowDreamer · 14/02/2025 23:05

I saw it last night. I was widowed suddenly almost 12 years ago when DS was 8 and DD was almost 5. I am 12 years on and we are all doing great but this film completely floored me. I have never seen such an accurate representation of how it feels to be suddenly left on your own with two little ones….trying to cope with your own grief while supporting them with theirs, never sure if you are doing the right things and worrying that if you mess things up they will scarred for life… keeping everything going…seeing married friends who try to empathise but will never truly know how alone one feels at times. Being married to a wonderful person and feeling devastated that his children will have almost no memory of the person who loved them so much. It was spot-on but I admit it was a heartbreaking watch for me. Take tissues!!!!!!

I’m so sorry you went through all that, I hope life is easier for you all now?

Thank you – yes – we are all doing great – truly 😊 DS is almost 20 and DD is 16 and everybody tells me how happy, confident and well-rounded they are which means so much as you can imagine ! I knew what had happened to Bridget in the book so I knew that there would be some sad bits, I just didn’t expect it to floor me so much - took me straight back to those early years very sharply. I thought it was a brilliant film with lots of laughs and lovely bits 😃.

junebirthdaygirl · 14/02/2025 23:51

Heard a review on the radio and it was very positive, really encouraged me to go see it

TheaBrandt1 · 15/02/2025 00:21

Helen fielding who wrote the book and film was herself widowed suddenly with two young kids so guess that’s why she nailed it
