What films wouldn’t you change a moment of?

Ive just watched Billy Elliot and I think it’s absolutely perfect. The characters, the set, the very palpable despair displayed by the miners during strikes - anyone familiar with these areas know that these places have barely progressed as a direct result of Thatcher’s destruction. I feel that somehow came across in the movie.

The ending 🥺 it’s actual perfection

Brassed Off

That film makes me bawl.

SocksAndTheCity · 17/05/2024 22:04

Parasite. It's not my favourite film of all time, but I think it's pretty close to flawless.

nocoolnamesleft · 17/05/2024 22:05

Princess Bride.

BinkyBeaufort · 17/05/2024 22:07

When I read the thread title the first film that came to mind was Billy Elliot, closely followed by Dr Zhivago.

About Time

it is sublime

thenightsky · 17/05/2024 22:10

Oh yes... How could I have forgotten Dr Zhivago!

Yes!!

Richard Curtis has produced some absolute bile in Notting Hill and Four Weddings and this amazing film, the ONE time he gets it right, is barely known! I love it for the father/son relationship rather than the romance (although the romance is cute)

Adaptation is brilliant. My DP is a proper film buff and is always showing me ‘near perfect’ films but this is the only one I think even he deems perfect so worth a watch!

SocksAndTheCity · 17/05/2024 22:13

I've never even heard of About Time!

I'll add Some Like It Hot. I honestly wouldn't change a single frame.

TheresMillionsSaidGeoffrey · 17/05/2024 22:19

Some Like It Hot

thesnailandthewhale · 18/05/2024 18:28

E.T. Blush

NancyDrawed · 18/05/2024 19:27

Loved the first Back to the Future film. It is near perfection

Also, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is a favourite, with the exception of Ruprecht. The ending is perfect. Dr Emile Schulthausen (sp) is just great. I do love that film

Princess Bride is also a favourite, but IMHO would be better without the modern (though not any more!) bits of Columbo/Grandpa reading

SocksAndTheCity · 18/05/2024 19:31

Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
