I've seen loads of posts today about Sinister being the scariest film ever.

Pffft. I watched Meghan is Missing this week, now traumatised.

And I can't ever erase The Green Inferno from my brain.

What are your worst?

I thought "The Visit" was a really great thrilling horror.

I prefer tension over gore like Human Centipede type films these days. In my younger days I had more of a stomach to watch shock stuff like Salo etc.

I enjoyed Tusk, but my adult DS was really disturbed by it. 😅

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 13/04/2024 19:54

Omg, ‘Tusk’ still haunts me to this day!

OooohAhhhh · 13/04/2024 19:54

When we were kids we watched "Dolls"
It was about a puppet master & it scared the life out of us. Since then I've watched it again (few years ago) and can confirm it's not that scary when you're an adult. But... it's still stuck with me. I know Jaws isn't a horror as such, but the Jaws music always haunts me when I'm in the sea.

Sinister really really scared me.
Years ago at uni, we watched insidious and that really got me too.

Someonescatmum · 13/04/2024 19:55

Calvare

If you haven't - just don't!

NooNakedJacuzziness · 13/04/2024 19:57

The bit right at the end of Sinister very nearly ended me!

aberamagold · 13/04/2024 19:58

Wolf Creek - permanently put me off going for any road trips in the Australian outback.

The beginning of 'The Descent' was traumatic.

Someone mentioned 'Midsommar' - that's one of my favourite films ever! Was absolutely gripped, loved every second of it.

IncompleteSenten · 13/04/2024 19:58

My mum used to rent horror videos and we'd watch them together.
Yes, I know, first class parenting. What can I say 🤷

I'd say the worst was when she thought she'd rented the exorcist but she'd actually rented the sexorcist.

Me and my sister jumped a mile when our mother squealed, leaped out of her chair and cleared the room in what seemed like a single step and ejected the cassette from the video player.

efeslight · 13/04/2024 20:01

I am a big fan of horror films but don't want to watch Hostel or any of the ultra gory films.
Paranormal activity really frightened me and I didn't sleep well for a while.
Memorable horror are Clockwork Orange and the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

C1N1C · 13/04/2024 20:05

I agree with all of the above.

Try: Knock Knock

It takes Keanu Reeves, one of the nicest guys ever and destroys him.

jf1992x · 13/04/2024 20:06

A Serbian Film. I physically threw up watching it! You'll probably struggle to find it as it's banned in a lot of places.

bevelino · 13/04/2024 20:07

When I was a child, I watched carry on screaming and it scared the pants off me. I obviously now know no it’s a comedy.

ToddlerMumma · 13/04/2024 20:07

Hostel - gave me nightmares
Saw - I wish I'd never seen it
Wolf creek - I couldn't even watch past about 30 minutes.

WingingItSince1973 · 13/04/2024 20:08

When I was much younger we watched the Nightmare On Elm Street film back when it came out on video. It frightened me so much I slept with my hand on my neck for many many years after. Horrible film. Can't believe we watched it as very young kids.

Gwenhwyfar · 13/04/2024 20:09

Scariest was The Ring (American version).

I’ve read the Wiki and watched a reaction video on YouTube so I know not to go anywhere near this one!

SquashPenguin · 13/04/2024 20:10

The Descent scared the crap out of me. Still does to this day.

Wolf Creek bothered me too.

Nelliemellie · 13/04/2024 20:10

Creep. London Underground looked so scary.

Nowanextraone · 13/04/2024 20:11

Scream when I was 15. Never been able to gontonancinema toilet without freaking out again 😆
I'm now 40....

SevenSeasOfRhye · 13/04/2024 20:12

The Human Centipede 2.

FeralNun · 13/04/2024 20:14

The House in Nightmare Park, with Frankie Howerd. For many reasons 😂

InTheShallowTheShalalalalalalalow · 13/04/2024 20:14

I love horror, and have watched hundreds.

Weirdly enough the one that stuck with me most was Gerald's Game.

I have no idea why, its not very graphic, there are films that are much, much scarier out there.

It literally haunted me for weeks afterwards though

Another one was Mother, the last part of that stayed with me for weeks, despite not being the 'worst' horror out there.

MariaVT65 · 13/04/2024 20:15

I don’t watch a lot of horror because of seeing The Ring when I was 14.

I stupidly continued to watch all the Saw films even though I have nightmares about being in traps.

I saw Sinister on a date and had to get my phone out in the middle to google the plot, so thankfully i knew what was coming.

Woman in Black.

I am totally obsessed with the Scream films thought. And I fucking love Mrs Doubtfire.

SabreIsMyFave · 13/04/2024 20:16

I'm bookmarking this to get some tips! Exorcist (from the early 1970s) slayed me. I saw it in the cinema in 1984 when I was in my early teens - sneaked in with some friends - and it made me traumatised and nauseous! Had to sleep with the light on for a week! Shock

QuickFetchTheCoffee · 13/04/2024 20:16

Another vote for The Descent.

That ending. Horrible.
