For me...
Pursuit of Happiness
Elephant Man

There's definitely more but I can't think and I've had 2 gins so I'll be better thinking tomorrow.
But I just saw a clip on LinkedIn from pursuit of happiness and it made me cry just from the clip!

Oh The Yearling made me howl, I must have been about 5 or 6 and was inconsolable.

The Deer Hunter left me dumbstruck for days, as did Kes. The last thing that really got me was the final episode of Derry Girls.

I cry at so many things - uplifting films in particular. Moana has me in pieces.

Watched Once were warriors other night. Powerful, New Zealand film about the Maori's. Involving alcohol abuse, domestic violence, rape and suicide. Very powerful film. Is upsetting but is a very good film to watch.

Horsedoglover59 · 03/02/2023 12:09

One Day - Anne Hathaway and Jim? (can't remember surname)
A Star Is Born - Lady Gaga and thr gorgeous Bradley Cooper - how Lady G can sing that last song without crying, I do not know!!
Man on Fire - I howl at the ending!!
😢😢😢😭😭😭🤧🤧

All the films make me cry! I cried at Avatar recently. Dumbo has made me cry hardest, with Beaches a close second.

Agree amazing film. Robin Williams is also in one called What dreams may come. Its strange but a lovely story, very unusual.

I'd forgotten about Awakenings, so sad. And What Dreams May Come is lovely.
I forgot to add Bambi to my list - that traumatised me when I was 8, my mother took me to see it and ran out of tissues to give me in the cinema!

Black Beauty. If you don’t cry you are dead inside.

I can't watch Black Beauty - just the music at the start sets me off. And I used to look after a chestnut mare who looked just like Ginger.

Coco. I sobbed through the last 10 minutes in the cinema, was quite embarrassing.

The song that Miguel sings to Coco at the end was recently used in a video commemorating the victims of the Uvalde school shooting where ofrendas were set up on school desks for Dia de los Muertos last year and it was absolutely heartbreaking

JamSandle · 03/02/2023 12:25

Finding Nemo
The Green Mile
Hook

La vita e bella

The grave of the fireflies is so sad that everyone that I know who has seen it, cried their eyes out and some couldn’t watch it until the end. It’s an absolute masterpiece though and often compared to Schindlers List as one of the best war movies ever made. Don’t make the mistake to let kids watch it even though its anime. Its too much for most adults.

Oh yes as well to Finding Nemo, cried a couple of times during it.

Also Arthur Christmas, I can't help it but that scene when they're all watching Gwen open her gift sets me off every time.

Hmm it seems that children's films really do it for me

My mum said when I was young she took me to the cinema to watch Hunch back of Notre Dame and I cried all the way walking up to the bus stop, people were looking and she had to tell me to stop and stop being silly because apparently I was balling and she was worried people would think she'd beaten me 😂

Who will love my children, I was about 8 when I watched it and I still remember sobbing my heart out.
Not without my daughter
The Sullivan five
Beaches
Harry Potter - when Dobbie dies
My Girl
Stepmom
The Green Mile
Dead poets society
Steel Magnolias
The new Black Pantha - The tribute to Chadwick Boseman was so touching

TV shows

Sobbed my heart out when Vera, Jack & Mike Baldwin all died and Auden Connor - I’ve not really watched Cory since then.
8 simple rules, when Paul, the dad died because I knew John Ritter had suddenly died while filming.
There have been a few call the midwife episodes that have had me choked up.

The are other movies & TV shows I just can’t think of at the moment.

msssm · 19/02/2023 02:04

The Champ. When I was a child then also as an adult. Just so sad 😭
Also Beaches. Saw it twice at cinema in my teens and a few times as an adult. Snot bubbles every time 😭😭😭

RoryMcGory · 19/02/2023 05:41

Watership Down, even thinking about it chokes me up. Never again.
Same with Marley and Me & Shindlers List. I won't watch them again.

I love Green Mile and have watched it many times even though I know I'll sob my heart out.

RoryMcGory · 19/02/2023 05:47

Also, The Rare Breed with James Stewart, when they find Vindicator has died in the snow. Sob 😭

ladybood · 19/02/2023 05:47

Schindler's list. Such a heartfelt film

GiltEdges · 19/02/2023 06:37

Grave of the fireflies is a fantastic film. Heartbreaking and beautiful.

Watched Warrior last night with Tom Hardy. Didn't ball my eyes out but it was emotional, and good film for anyone who hasn't seen it!
