For me...
Pursuit of Happiness
Elephant Man

There's definitely more but I can't think and I've had 2 gins so I'll be better thinking tomorrow.
But I just saw a clip on LinkedIn from pursuit of happiness and it made me cry just from the clip!

Yes, thank you. Jim Sturgess.
A lovely film if you're in the mood for a weepie.

Lion. I ugly cried.

Oh God me too - it is just heartbreaking.

Recently watched A Man Called Otto and that killed me too.

AngeloMysterioso · 13/07/2023 21:45

About Time. I watched it a few days after my Dad died, thinking a gentle Richard Curtis rom com might cheer me up a tiny bit. I knew nothing about the plot.

Big huge mistake.

All from when I was a lot younger :

Kramer vs Kramer
The Last Snows of Spring
The Way We Were
Love Story

Every Lassie movie and of course Bambi

They seem to have hardened me as I rarely cry at films now

44 years later and I'm still not over Bambi losing his mum! Children of men always gets me, when everyone goes quiet when they see the baby.

Past Lives. It has been on preview for the London Film Festival. Stunning. The man next to me she’s tears too.

Life is beautiful

oh the horror - sorry - i walked out of that film angry.
Benigni could have learned from Spielberg.
On the topic, i usually manage to just restrain myself with films but Remains of the Day did get to me.
Though not as much as someone two or three rows behind me in a guildford cinema - sounded as if she was heaving her guts up. Well beyond the power of hankies.

RyanGoslingsTan · 07/08/2023 21:22

Big Fish

Oppenheimer

The Green Mile

overdalexx · 07/08/2023 21:26

American Beauty, for personal reasons.
Should have taken note of what my subconscious, tapped into by the film, was telling me.

correction - I meant Shadowlands - thanks to the person above who reminded me as I scrolled down. My mental block/brainwarp is possibly because I have never dared see it again since that wet guildford sunday

Elephant Man was the very first film to make me cry. My mum took me to see it in the cinema when I was 8.

More recently, Nomadland... for me, it was a life-changing film. I watched it last summer- just after my brother died and just before I found out my husband had been abusing our daughter for 5 years. It's such a beautiful film about being alive, about grief, among other things. It really has stayed with me, that film. The 'Fern and Bob Wells' scene kills me especially because it's real. Bob Wells is not an actor. None of the nomads are, apart from 'Fern'/Frances McDormand. I choke up if I even think about that scene. The 'Swankie' scene too... because it's real. It's from the heart.

There are so many films... Land of Mine is another one. Devastating. Such a tough watch. The Pianist... beautiful.

Hey @TheVanguardSix im so so sorry for your loss and troubles. No wonder you’ve cried. I wish you all the very best

Out of Africa 😭 Robert Redford 😭😭

And - Daddy my Daddy 😭😭😭 we all know where that line is from.

I watched the new Railway Children film on a long haul flight last year and they have put a 😭moment in that. I admit to a silent sob, I think I would have proper sobbed if I was watching it on my own at home but on a full flight I managed to hold it back.

Gallipoli. I went on crying in the pub after! Just devastated. I was early 20s and it was the first time I'd really thought about what a war was for real people.

Same here!
