For me...
Pursuit of Happiness
Elephant Man

There's definitely more but I can't think and I've had 2 gins so I'll be better thinking tomorrow.
But I just saw a clip on LinkedIn from pursuit of happiness and it made me cry just from the clip!

The saddest film I have ever seen in all my life is
A Monster Calls.
Cried and cried and cried.
And cried....

thehopefulgardener · 09/08/2022 18:07

The Bridges of Madison County

I was an absolute wreck coming out of the cinema

Cooroo · 09/08/2022 18:08

Gallipoli. I went on crying in the pub after! Just devastated. I was early 20s and it was the first time I'd really thought about what a war was for real people.

ReindeerGames · 09/08/2022 18:08

Dead Poets Society
The English Patient
Absolute floods for both of them. I was much younger though, haven't really cried at a film for ages.

Elephant Man was the very first film to make me cry. My mum took me to see it in the cinema when I was 8.

More recently, Nomadland... for me, it was a life-changing film. I watched it last summer- just after my brother died and just before I found out my husband had been abusing our daughter for 5 years. It's such a beautiful film about being alive, about grief, among other things. It really has stayed with me, that film. The 'Fern and Bob Wells' scene kills me especially because it's real. Bob Wells is not an actor. None of the nomads are, apart from 'Fern'/Frances McDormand. I choke up if I even think about that scene. The 'Swankie' scene too... because it's real. It's from the heart.

There are so many films... Land of Mine is another one. Devastating. Such a tough watch. The Pianist... beautiful.

The Green Mile always gets my husband.

I cry at anything. Even Encanto when I first saw it!

Encanto made me cry too

Steel Magnolias
Who will love my Children
The Notebook

Camper82 · 09/08/2022 18:24

All the Disney films get me.

The first one to really make me cry was City Of Angels with Meg Ryan and Nicholas Cage. I was much younger then though.

There’s a Korean film called Brotherhood about the Korean War. My dad had it on DVD - I was ill for a week off school when I was 15 or 16 and really bored, I just put on because there wasn’t much else left to watch, it definitely wasn’t my usual thing, I thought I would just fall asleep.
I was hooked, it was the most heartbreaking thing I’d ever seen and I cried a total of 6 times!

LaurieFairyCake · 09/08/2022 18:29

Holding the man, again, I haven’t managed to watch it to the end yet.

Lion.

Big hero 6.

Margaritawithlime · 09/08/2022 18:45

Dear Zachary.
it’s more of a documentary than a movie. I shall never ever watch it again. It haunts me and I’ve never cried like that over somethinf I’ve watched on TV.
