For me it's always the Twilight Saga. Then full on snot filled tissues when Edward's piece of music (Bella's Theme?) that he wrote for Bella.

I read the books before watching the films, and they too made me weep.

I know... I'm a sentimental nitwit.

Most recently I Daniel Blake and Inside Out.

Couldn't watch all of Inside Out.
My 7 year old had been too upset to watch it at school so I watched it by myself to see what was bothering him. I dont know whether it was the film or thinking of his reaction made me more upset!

Biggest sobfest ever, "Young@Heart". Very very lovely but really made me cry.

The food bank scene in I, Daniel Blake made me actually sob out loud.

Just watched a Mongolian film called Joy which I have cried my eyes out over.

Also, My Neighbour Totoro.

Grave of the Fireflies (broke my heart - those poor children). This is very much an adult film though, I think, despite it being an animation.

AllGoodDogs · 14/10/2017 23:06

Taken from a thread on the books board I just watched A Monster Calls. I haven't cried so hard at a film since Marley and Me! I often have a little sob at films, but this was another level. I've taken some ibuprofen and washed my face in cold water or I'll still have a crying headache and puffy eyes in the morning! Fantastic, brilliant, touching film nontheless.

Dead poets society
Ladder 49 - about firefighters
Sorry not a film but Greys anatomy

notacooldad · 05/11/2017 10:15

One film that made everyone in the cinema cry this week is Breath. I finally succumbed to tears when the huge body builder hard type guy a few seats away got his hanky out and my friend did a big sob. It was at the point if the final credits and they showed photos if the events in the film.
Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy are fantastic.

When Goose dies in Top Gun

Walkingdead11 · 09/11/2017 20:02

Schindlers list (the bit when all those he saved put the stones on his grave)
Ice Age (when they go in the cave and see the cave drawings of other Mammoths).....

Fluke (when the man in body of dog realises he has to leave so his wife and child can move on) hysterical sobbing!

ET (when he dies and when he comes back to life)

TinklyLittleLaugh · 09/11/2017 20:06

My tough 23 year old son watched Lion on a transatlantic flight. Him and my youngest son (12 year gap) absolutely adore each other. He said he blubbed like a fool, particularly at the scene at the end when the brothers are walking down the track.

Evil little DS (who saw the film with me at the cinema) sometimes winds him up by calling him "Guddu".

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 09/11/2017 20:33

I sobbed tonight at The Impossible, when the three boys were reunited!

MarshaBrady0 · 09/11/2017 20:35

Short Term 12

Not a great title but man it is sob-worthy. A group of amazing children in a home - the part where a teen boy does a poem / rap about his mother.
Heart-breaking

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 09/11/2017 21:06

Jack, with Robin Williams. Proper snot crying.

WanderingTrolley1 · 09/11/2017 21:12

Creatureofthenight · 13/11/2017 16:29

I've just watched La La Land on Netflix. I thought it was a feel good film. No so much. Just been bawling at the ending.

Rainymallow · 13/11/2017 21:21

Magic Mike makes me weep, from my vagina

willstarttomorrow · 14/11/2017 22:30

Steel Magnolias. It is a film I return to time and time again. Everyone I introduce it to loves it. It has an amazing cast and is funny, sad and heartwarming. It has it all.

Worldsworstcook · 14/11/2017 22:35

Toy story 3 when Andy gives his toys away.
And sleepless in Seattle where he talks about his dead wife and says I'll just get up in the morning and breathe in and breathe out and maybe after a while I'll forget I had it so good ..

Wahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Who Will Love My Children
It’s a Wonderful Life- the bit when he’s a child in the chemist shop and gets whacked round the ear
The Champ - I’ve only actually ever seen the end when the wee boy is trying to get him to wake up, but cried buckets at that

I’m in tears thinking about all these now

MrsRonaldWeasley · 17/11/2017 08:41

Me Before You 😢 Went to watch a preview showing and even the big burly security guards had tears rolling down their cheeks! The book had made me cry even more!!! 😭

frumpyheron · 17/11/2017 08:48

Goodnight Mister Tom. Gets me every time. When he calls him “Dad” rather than Mister at the end 😭

frumpyheron · 17/11/2017 08:50

Also, I’m currently pregnant so I’m an emotional wreck, I’ve watched Sing 5+ times and I cry at a different storyline every time. The unappreciated mother, the elephant with low self-esteem, the father who doesn’t get his son... getting emotional just thinking about it now!

TheProdigalRhubarb · 17/11/2017 09:22

I’ve Loved You So Long. Oh. My. God. My friend and I had to go and sit in a cafe with hot chocolates and sit in silence for half an hour to restore our sensibilities. Beautiful, moving film.
