Juno
High Fidelity
Toy Story 3

peaksandtroughs · 23/08/2012 18:51

I have been made to watch '10 Things I Hate About You' seven times over the last two weeks. On one day, DD had it on three times. So if you're looking for something to watch with an eleven year old girl, I'd suggest that. It is better than most tween films.

I am really not a fan of horror, but I saw the Cabin in the Woods recently and it has some clever plot twists.

Maybe that is a good way to find films. Get people to suggest films they liked from genres they don't like!

I really like Postcards From the Edge. It is very funny and quotable.

Moggin · 23/08/2012 18:52

... And Bridges of Maddison County... Oh I really really love that

FreudianSlipper · 23/08/2012 18:54

how could i forget Bridges of Madison County Shock and Midnight Cowboy

Heat and Dog Day Afternoon are fantastic films too. Dog Day is so underrated i think pacino at his best

peaksandtroughs · 23/08/2012 18:55

I have never understood why people like Dirty Dancing. It is a romance with an abortion with complications subplot. The two topics do not go together well.

SorrelForbes · 23/08/2012 19:06

Leon
Pretty in Pink
Singing in The Rain
The Last Picture Show
Bugsy Malone
Love Actually
Pan's Labyrinth
Kiss Me Kate
The Wizard of Oz

CleoSmackYa · 23/08/2012 19:12

Rocky Horror Picture Show.

nellyjelly · 23/08/2012 19:22

It is not clear if Shane is dead. Though he is clearly injured.

Yes yes to Westerns.
saturday night fever
Godfather
Apocalypse Now
Rear Window
39 Steps
Goodbye Mr Chips
Its a wonderful life. i too love J Stewart.
Taxi Driver
Jaws
To kill a mockingbird
Dangerous Liasons

Tons more if thought about it. Thing is I would be really interested in Lesley's films. There are some great films that are not obviously 'arty' but are clearly great genre films or fine examples of commercial film making. jaws for instance is a brilliant bit of film making.

nellyjelly · 23/08/2012 19:22

A Man for all Seasons because Paul Scofield is superb and I loved him.
