WhitegoldWielder · 23/08/2012 20:32

Although not on my list Shane is a good film because of the ambiguous ending.

Isn't the crux of the argument here about definition of 'favourite'? Some people are talking about films that are easy to watch, that just make them happy. Others are talking about a 'best' film, something that epitomises what a great film must be like. Given the original question was 'favourite' I think it's reasonable for people to answer either way, no?

Or perhaps no. It's AIBU, what was I thinking.

ladymariner · 26/08/2012 22:44

Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistlestop Cafe ("the most valuable thing in the world is friends")
Erin Brokovich
It's A Wonderful Life
Love Actually
Shawshank Redemption
The Full Monty

If dh was writing his list out not one of the above would feature apart from
Shawshank and Wonderful Life. Doesn't make mine any less "favourite" for me, or either of us to have the better taste or choice. Everyone likes different things, wouldn't do for us to all be the same....

ladymariner · 26/08/2012 22:53

Oooh, how could I have forgotten.....

Thelma and Louise

scarlettsmummy2 · 26/08/2012 23:10

In the name of the father. I cry every single time I watch it and the acting is amazing.

Arana · 26/08/2012 23:12

Kick Ass. Many others come close, but that one has the sublime combination of screenplay, soundtrack, humility, humour, violence, justice and awesomeness that's required. Even Nicholas Cage didn't bring it down too much.

scarlettsmummy2 · 26/08/2012 23:14

I also love the notebook and one say for when I fancy a weepy.
