Is the trans movement trending out?

Reading another thread prompted this. As a teacher, I have noticed that there are no trans kids this year. I teach in a middle school in europe: 3 years corresponding to years 8 - 10 (!). As the last academic year ended, the last trans kids left the school. No new ones coming through the school.

Has it trended out amongst the kids, leaving the older teenagers / twenty somethings? Then in 20 years' time only the hardcore, like seeing an 60-year old punk?

Hopefully, but sadly too late for many families.

Lovelyview · 25/01/2025 22:50

I hope so. It's a vile self-harming cult to which children should never have been be exposed.

rosemole · 25/01/2025 22:52

I'm so glad to hear that OP, I sincerely hope so as it's done so much damage to families I know.

I don't think it is trending out, or ever will. In my country, 10% of trans people die from murder and 10% die from suicide. Ensuring that their needs are met is a human rights issue. Thankfully, where I am from, the awareness of trans identity is becoming more normalized. It always helps to become more educated on the issue, like taking a LGBT class at one's local college.

Gosh, how surprising to have one country that has statistics so very different from the rest of the world? Which country is this where it's so extraordinarily dangerous to be trans?

Presumably somewhere horrendously dangerous anyway given those murder stats. How do you live there?

or is it perhaps that you live in Canada?

cariadlet · 03/02/2025 06:10

The only country I've ever come across with high death rates for people identifying as trans is Brazil. In that case, it's because so many were involved in sex work which is a very dangerous way to earn a living. Even there, I'm pretty sure it was nowhere near 10%.

I think it will die out (or greatly reduce) among children as it was a trend driven largely by social contagion so will be seen as something uncool that older kids did. As a pp said, so many have been damaged already. It's heartbreaking that it's taken so long to reach this point.

I doubt that it will go away among the AGP crowd. Too many perverted middle aged men who now feel entitled to parade their fetishes in public.

curious79 · 03/02/2025 06:45

According to DD 15 they’re all absolutely sick of it. I think it is trending out in all areas of life. Thank god. Now the people where this is serious for them can be the focus, not young disillusioned attention seekers

JerrySprinter · 03/02/2025 07:17

My mid teen dc's are bored of it too. They definitely see it as very uncool and attention seeking.
Thankfully.
I feel for those poor children who succumbed.

usser3245343 · 03/02/2025 07:21

@AstridFahan Where you live it is better because people take LGBT college courses and normalise awareness of trans people, but then 10% of them kill themselves and 10% are murdered. What are you on about?

Obviously it's a country so supportive of self-identification that you can self-identify your statistics to match your delusions.

I'm guessing Canada.

Taking 20% at face value: that's horrific. You must worry a lot about it.

Do you believe it's higher in countries that don't have those policies?

As for what can be done, I’d like to understand what you think is going on first:

Do you think these are mainly highly vulnerable people who would have died anyway, in the days before trans identification?

Or do you think in the days before trans identification, they would still be alive?

LGBT class? Does it spend an equal amount of time on each letter or is it all about the T?

I think we're past the main wave in some places but it's still getting going in others. I live in a city centre, the self IDing teens have dropped off quite dramatically. However, my friends who live more rurally are only starting to get their first non-binary/trans teens and people are at the novelty, celebrating, pat themselves on the back stages.

I don't know about parents transing their small children though, I suspect that's still ongoing and "stealth," and more worrying than the teens who came easily roll back.

This is happening in my rural area. Loads of lgbtqi+ stuff suddenly happening. I'm hoping it passes soon. The trouble is, it's aimed at primary school children but uses quite vague terminology. 'Come and celebrate our community in all its diversity', etc. without saying we're going to teach kids they might have been born in the wrong body. It's pushed under the 'Pride' banner. I don't really know how to challenge it without sounding like Mary Whitehouse.

Whoknew24 · 03/02/2025 12:41

I truly hope so ! It got completely out of control where I live, trans, cats and the rest 🤦‍♀️

The community very quickly seen thete was a major mental health crisis and stepped up their parenting. All of a sudden the cats are back being human and the trans thing seems to have calmed down. It was a popular bandwagon for confused children and it now doesn’t seem so popular.

Moomoola · 04/02/2025 22:34

I hope so. We lost our daughter to it.

I'm fed up of people being encouraged to think they're something they're not, instead of being supported through the normal ups and downs of growing, developing and learning about themselves and/or dealing with a diagnosis such as autism or ADHD or a mental health issue (anxiety or depression, for example).

Are those numbers true? Can you cite them properly please because they do not at all sound realistic.

also filter out people who are in the sex trade as that is normally the thing that makes life dangerous.

Absolutely.

gender questioning people are the ones being let down by society not using proper evidence based medicine and giving these people hollistic mental health support

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 05/02/2025 08:08

What worries me is that the current teenagers/young adults caught up in this toxic nonsense will soon be in the workplace and in a few years in positions of authority.

Will we see another wave of this batshittery when they are influencing law and policy?

Don't worry about sounding like Mary Whitehouse. Just pointbout loud and clear that girls with short hair who live wearing trousers, playing football, learning maths are still girls and boys who play with dolls, wear pink and fairy wings are still boys. Remind them that their preferences will never mean they were born in the wrong body.

I'm hope it is phasing out and see it as a fad
